Great local bush walk right on by my house. It takes you into the city centre. Its about an hour. Along the section of the track is where Lord of the Rings was filmed.

Sightseeing
Civic Square is in the heart of the city. There is the library, city gallery and many other spots to eat, view and get a feel for Wellington. The city art gallery is free and if you walk along thr waterfront there are other cool galleries and public art works along the way. Te Papa is close to Civic Square as well.

Really nice inside the hot house, great cafe and walk around through old cemeteries and there are lots of iconic Wgtn spots in and around these gardens.

Great to find many Wellington local clothing and jewelry stores down here. Walk a bit further down Willis street and the boutique stores continue.

Essentials
Island Bay has everything you need in a small community shopping centre. Great fast food, Hells Pizza, fish n chips and a great local bar! Supermarket is down there behind the main shops as well. Small but handy for everything. The bus 23 takes you there :)
