Food Scene

Kirsty cooks great food, serving every lunchtime and evening till 8 or 8.30. The pub is a lively local with Robinson ales, and often has things going on, but she keeps the dining room clear for diners.

Drinks & Nightlife

The Legion is popular with locals but is really welcoming to visitors too. No food but good value drinks including local real ales. Occasional events - check the village blog Parwich.org for details.

This pub in Birchover is worth visiting for the beer. Brewed on the premises, they offer a great range of ale from an Italian style lager to a dark stout. Food also available, makes a great stop on a walk of Birchover Moor to see the Nine Ladies stone circle.

Parks & Nature

The trail passes just two miles north of Parwich; join the trail at Mininglow car park and head in either direction for stunning views. Makes for lovely cycling having no traffic - and flat! You can hire bikes at Middleton Top near Wirksworth or at Parsley Hay, where it joins the Tissington trail.

There are lots of dales and I mention Dovedale because it is famous - which also makes it very popular with tourists. You can access at Ilam in the South but I recommend Milldale at the quieter north end, also nearest us. We're happy recommend other dales, especially if you want to get away from crowds.

Its a two-mile walk over fields or a pleasant drive or cycle to reach Tissington village with the old hall and pretty estate village. The hall is sometimes open to visitors and Tissington is famous for its well dressings 25th to 31st May. Great tea rooms and specialist shops.

This has medieval origins and is one of my favourites. More modest than Chatsworth but really beautiful and interesting - the kitchens are amazing. Lovely gardens.

Masson Mill and nearby Arkwrights mill are the birthplace of the industrial revolution. Located in historic Cromford, this is a must-see place for history buffs, there is plenty to explore and several pubs and tea shops for lunch.

Like Stonehenge but sadly all the stones have fallen down. A really interesting site, though there are plenty others including the Nine Ladies circle near Birchover and Mininglow burial site just off the High Peak Trail, just two miles from us and a lovely walk or cycle.

Arts & Culture

A beautiful building in this lovely town which was a Victorian tourist hot spot. The opera house has a full programme of theatre, comedy, music and even a few operas. Buxton Opera Festival and fringe runs through most of July.
