Fresh and interesting italian cuisine. Always full on a Fri or Sat night, so reservations always wise. Intimate restauarant but staff extremely pleasant.

Ideal spot for an extended breakfast/brunch. The breakfasts are any thing but Petit (de jeuner) and the frommage or grand breakfast is awesome.

Fantastic chinese dumplings. Not a huge menu, but always satisfying. Business lunch during the week gives you a dumpling soup + steamed dumplings for €8,50 and is a really good deal. Evenings are full

Russian restaurant just renovated. Try the borscht soup to warm up in winter or the Moscow pancakes for dessert.

Fresh food, check out the specials board. Usually a line for dinner, as there are no reservations, but the service is very fast, hence it only takes 10-15 minutes before getting a table.

Open early til late, friendly, New York/Melbourne style cafe/deli. My favourite is a marinated chicken baguette and cappuccino. But they also do breakfast and free wifi.

The tallest natural point in the area, for a euro donation you can visit the tower and get a great view of Berlin. Famous also for hosting the printing press against the East German government.

Sunday flea market is a must do, although be prepared for it to be extremely crowded during summer. A beer in mauersegler is a good way to finish off after beating the crowds. Karaoke in the park.

Thursdays and Saturdays at the Hackescher Markt square have a great range of produce, food for instant consumption, local artists work and souveniers. At other times there are plenty of shops too.
