Our friends from Washington DC have David's coffee mailed to them because after trying his coffee, they couldn't settle for the coffee they can get in DC! A tiny storefront across from the post office in Blue Hill.

If you want a really high end, fabulous restaurant, this is the place to go. Absolutely wonderful food and experience. Located on Deer Isle. Reservations need to be made far in advance. Very expensive, but you can go to the cocktail hour and sit at the bar for more reasonable prices.

Take the mail boat from Stonington, a charming, salty little historic town, to the island of Isle au Haut, hike around the island and then return on the mail boat. Somewhat challenging for kids to do the whole hike, but great for older kids and adults.

Look on the Blue Hill Heritage Trust website under the "Trails" tab for Cooper's Farm at Caterpillar Hill. This is a fabulous wild blueberry field where you can go pick blueberries for free and enjoy a spectacular view. The Walker Pond swim area is just down the dirt driveway from this area.

This is a beautiful little library with a good children's book collection, DVDs, and sometimes very nice exhibits of local artists' works. Also has local papers. Very nice staff.
