Only spot of actual old Little Italy I can find. Bunch of Italians making giant sandwiches that will work for two meals and set you back around 8 bucks. And they're goooooood.

Great Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi food that makes for the best cheap lunch in the area. Always filled with cabbies, no sign on the street but dive in and find greatness inside.

My favorite bar in New York. It's just right. There will be hipsters, but it won't be hipster scene. Generally lacks annoying people. And they have Arancini (sicilian fried balls... you have no idea)

Two floors up, on room, lit red with soviet decor. Actor/writer scene, everyone is chill and the drinks are serious. One of the few spots in the East Village without fratty bros working in finance.

Out of the way, but the drinks are cheap, the vibe is good, and they have Tatchos: nachos but with tater tots and disco tots: tater tots w/ gravy + cheese curd. Poutine but with tater tots. So good.

One of Brooklyn's greatest treasures. Great shows and performances, plus a few screens showing a mix of indie new and classic films almost every night. The only movie theater I go to anymore.
