There are great hiking trails around Lake Moomaw. It is also home to one of the largest dirt & rock dams in the country - Gathright Dam. Lake Moomaw is great for motor boating, bass fishing and swimming.
The trail is right in from of our house. It runs from left to right and is an easy walking/biking trail. It is an old railway trail that is being restored to a "Rails to Trails" type trail. It runs along the river and the views are quite stunning in many places.

The mussels are divine! We've been there several times. Always good and at a reasonable price. It's a drive, so you may want to call Patti Riner to drive you if you are planning to have a glass of wine. Patti's number is 540-679-9214.

The Greenbrier Bunker, in West Virginia (just 45 minutes from the cottage) was the place where congress was to convene if there was an attack on DC. It is a very interesting tour - well worth the drive. Reservations are required.
