Not the easiest to get to by foot (and further away than Waitrose), but it is a large and well stocked store. Very simple to get to by car.

This little place is tucked away off the High Street, and somewhere few people other than locals know about. The decor is incredibly rustic, and they serve a fine selection of ales.

Sightseeing

Historic Stirling Castle was once the seat of the Scottish Royal Family, and is the gateway to the Highlands. From its walls you can see all through the Forth Valley.

Built before the film Braveheart (though with a statue that unfortunately resembles Mel Gibson), the Monument is a great vantage point from which to learn the history and see across Central Scotland.

The highest peak in Britain, and yet a surprisingly easy one to walk up, even for those not experienced in hill walking. A fun day out, but be sure to allow at least two hours each way for travel.

I've added this one in to recommend avoiding it. Most of the clientele are underaged and violent, which isn't helped by very cheap drinks and a punching machine... Not worth visiting at all.

The location on the map is wrong, but close enough that you'll find it. Iceland is full of cheap and cheerful freezer food, and is also useful for things like milk/bread/fruit juices etc.

A nice stopping off point for a day out to Lochearnhead, with lots of souvenir shops catering to all taste and budgets. You can also have your picture taken with a famous "Heilan' Coo" (Highland Cow).

About an hour's drive from Stirling, the road to Lochearnhead takes you through some beautiful Scottish countryside. You'll also have the chance there to enjoy watersports and hill climbing.
