Food Scene

It is not all about the ocean! The Rye tavern is a cool spot to sit by the bar for some apps and drinks. Historical tavern, cozy for winter, cool outdoor space in better weather. Try the brussel sprouts! "Taverns in the Plymouth area remained into the 19th century when they were gradually replaced by more modern hotels and restaurants…..But in the outlying area along the old roads, our traditional 18th century taverns still exists. The Cornish Tavern still stands today on Old Sandwich Road looking much the same as it did two centuries ago. It is currently run as the Rye Tavern, keeping the old tavern tradition alive."

Ellisville Harbor offers a unique coastal experience . Explore the rolling meadows and red pine forest. You can see fishing boats and even harbor seals from the shoreline, even in the winter months. "This is a great setting. An easy hiking trail (3/4 mile approx) to a sand and rock beach. Looking out you see sea lions swimming and resting on the rocks. If you are adventurous, you can walk out on the rocks, at low tide, to get even closer to the action. Easy hike with some small hills- not good for strollers or ones with walking conditions- too many roots from trees on path. If in the area- definitely worth the trip." free parking
