Talk about a wallet-danger zone. If you like jewelry and shiny things this is the place for you. Tons of beads if you like to make your own pieces, as well as pre-made professional goods. A must.

This is a lovely little shop with stationary, antique jewelry, hats, you name it. It is also an art studio run by two lovely local women. There is always something unique to take home or give away.

A Chicago must see. If you are in the City during the week make sure that you go on a free day, but be sure to go. The new wing is tremendous and the collection too. It is a Chicago gem!

Fantastic tacos by a great foodie firm that specializes in high end products. The whisk(e)y selection isn't half bad either. This place is hopping in the summer, but is a welcome stop any time!

A little farther afield but easy to get too on the 56 bus right out your front door, this is a Chicago classic --and they will still let you smoke there too. Experience a true Chicago bar.

If you find yourself in the loop, this gem is right out the front doors of the Art Institute. Drink the house tea, or homemade vodkas and enjoy some traditional Russian fare. Wonderful service!

I probably shouldn't tell you about this, but it is one of my favorite places in all of Chicago, but is so tiny that even with 10 people there is feels tight. I maintain they are the best cocktails!

Great buffet lunches at the only Indian and Nepalese food in the area (as far as I know). Worth a stop by. Great prices and delicious food. Just a 5-10 minute walk, depending on there or back. ;)

Great, inexpensive Middle eastern fare that locals consume like it is water. Wonderful sandwiches, full plates and they have some hard to get produce too. There really is something for everyone here.

Holy COW! The food here is a foodie's paradise, and while a little pricy and sometimes a little snobby at the bar, it is worth it. Craft cocktails are terrific and the underground has its own appeal.

Best tea shop in all of Chicago, if you ask me. Beats Tevana hands down. Great gifts here to take home and the loose teas are simply delicious. Worth a stop for a sample when in the Gold Coast.

OHHHHH YES! and they deliver to the flat. Some of the best pizza in Chicago, but do the thin crust from them --I will make another recommendation for Chicago Style. So GOOD though. Give em a try.
