On the top of Mount Benacantil at a height of 166 metres, there is one of the largest medieval fortresses in Spain, built in the ninth century. Access by lift from Postiguet beach side on the avenue.

Designed in 1915, it is a wonderful circular plaza containing a dramatic fountain surrounding a tall monument. During June festivities, the "Mascelta" fireworks are performed here at 14:00.
