Montgomery res is in the neighborhood on the north side. There is a 4x4 road that is popular for jeeping. You can hike up the road as well for some good views at wheeler lake. Around a 3 hour hike round trip.

The top of Hoosier Pass is 5 minutes north towards Breckenridge from the studio on hwy 9. Part of the continental divide, there are some good hiking on both sides, cross country skiing is usually on the trail across the street from the parking lot.
