Stone Mountain downtown has some good restaurants. The mountain itself provides for excellent hiking and amazing views of the city skyline from the top of the mountain. There are also a lot of family friendly attractions, like a laser show and seasonal snow sledding!

Pine Lake is the smallest city in DeKalb County and only a 5-minute drive away. It has quirky artsy little houses and a lake with a sandy beach you can swim in during the warm summer months. The other side of the lake allows for fishing and kayaking. There is also neat little walking trails along Snapfinger Creek that feeds the lake.
