The "Funk Zone", located downtown, is full of fun wine tasting rooms and breweries. Great for wine or bar-hopping, or just getting your eyes full. There is often live music at different venues. Some of our favorite spots are Santa Barbara Winery, The Biergarten and Llama Dog.

Wonderful food in a perfect setting. Hendry's is one of our favorite beaches in Santa Barbara. We recommend putting in a reservation at the Boathouse when you arrive and passing the time while you wait for them to call your name by taking a stroll along the beach.

If you're in for a moderate challenge, head out to Hot Springs Canyon for an enjoyable ~ 2 hour hike. Enjoy a dip in one or more of the public hot springs at the top. The lowest hot spring is the coolest, and they get progressively hotter as you climb. Each can fit 5-10 people comfortably, and they do tend to fill up. Parking can be challenging and read the road signs, as we have seen people get tickets.

About a 45 minute drive south (a little longer if you take the back roads, which we recommend!), Ojai is a tourism destination known for its boutique hotels, recreation opportunities, hiking, and farmers' market of local organic agriculture. It has small businesses specializing in local and ecologically friendly art, design, and home improvement. Chain stores are prohibited by city ordinance to encourage local small business development and keep the town unique. A great day trip!
