Lake Placid is the little town in the Adirondack Mountains that has hosted two Winter Olympics...1932 and 1980. Remember the "Miracle on Ice" hockey game? Lake Placid, 1980.
In the heart of the Adirondack Park, the largest state park in the continental US, Lake Placid is a prime destination in the summer. Folks come here to conquer some of the 46 High Peaks in the park, hike the innumerable forest trails, canoe and kayak, and to enjoy the peaceful nights and clear mountain air. Golf? We have it! Lake Placid Triathlon? Every July! Ice Skating at the Olympic Arena? Check! Summer Sinfonietta? Check! Movies in a 1926 classic theater? You Bet!
Winter sports include skiing (both downhill and cross country), ice skating, sliding (training center for bobsled, luge, skeleton), and major league snowman building!
