Dog Parks

One of my FAVORITE off leash dog walks/hikes around town. Just under a mile hike/walk in, and a mile out... the dogs can run like crazy and you all can enjoy gorgeous scenery along the way.

Right at this "trail head" is a fenced in baseball diamond, that has been converted into a local dog park. It's an easy walk there, and a great space to let your dog cut loose and enjoy chasing and playing with other local pups.

A great hike on its own and made even better by the fact that dogs can join in (off leash if you’d like), too! Water runs down the canyon during the spring and early summer while the snow is melting. And fresh springs provide a cool down about 0.8 miles up, all year round. This is also a great back country ski route when it’s snowy. Shady, water, not too challenging— a great choice for people and dogs.

TONS of hikes, biking options, and dogs can access as well! Dogs must be leashed on even-numbered days, can be off leash on odd days. But it’s really easy to find a quality hike anywhere along the canyon, you can’t go wrong! :) Depending on where you go, there is water and shade for pups. And it tends to be about 8-10° cooler than the SLC basin on a hot summer day. Also a great spot to bring your pup in the winter— go to the closed winter gate, and walk/hike/back country ski up the closed road while your dog romps in the snow! ($5 pay on your way out— cash or card)

A beautiful hike up a canyon (hello elevation gain), and worth it for the views and running water in the springtime. You’ll need to leash your dog for the first 0.25ish miles, but after that, let them run! A popular hike for climbers as well, for the beautiful canyon walls that provide plenty of play space, vertically too.

They’ve got some funky hours, so check that they’re open before you go. But I love camping out here with work, getting a pot of tea, and noshing on some of their delicious food! Great for a date or catch up with a friend too!

Located more downtown, this spot is a favorite for their pumpkin chai latte ;) I’ve spent many hours working at this shop too—great vibe, and close to hiking spots if you want to get into the foothills after work.

Take a Trip Underwater at The Living Planet Aquarium There are plenty of exhibits at the aquarium, including the mammoth electric eel, stingrays, free-flying birds, reptiles, and the river giants. You can also pay an additional fee to meet penguins up close and there’s a 40-foot-long shark tunnel that’s sure to amaze. The aquarium is currently finishing up a section for their South American toucans in order to successfully breed them as part of the conservation efforts of the center. Tickets are from $16.95 – $28.95 for adults. - from tnaa dot com
