Food court with lots of good options, a wine bar and craft beers. My favorite is in the Vietnamese stand and in particular their bahn mi. There's also a cinema and various shops here, so all in all a great place to go on rainy days. Take tram 19 and exit at Kinkerstraat. Then walk west on Kinkerstraat for two blocks and it's on your right.

As you can tell from the big smoker that takes up seemingly half of my backyard, I love barbecue. This place has really good smoked brisket and ribs.

Must-visit for craft beer lovers. It's an excellent brewery next to a windmill, what else do you need to know? Go there on a sunny afternoon and you won't leave disappointed. Do note that it closes at 8pm. Tram 19 towards Diemen takes you pretty much all the way there.

Classic music venue and night club near Leidseplein in a converted old church (15-20 minute ride with tram 19 or by bike). Check out their site for events. Plenty of dancing to be found on the weekends here and nearby at Melkweg.

Spacious venue with a large terrace that's great for drinks in the sunshine or late at night. Take a nice 25 minute walk or quick bike ride through Westerpark to get there.

This is a classic art-deco movie theater from the 1920s. Such a great vibe and a good selection of indie/arthouse movies. The street (Harlemmerdijk) is a fun spot to shop or find a cafe you like.

Check out the website for reservations/tickets. Even then expect lines when you're there. Definitely check out the surrounding neighborhoods which are beautiful, and check out one of the many cafes on the Prinsengracht.

The three major art museums (Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum and the modern art museum) are all close together on museum square. For the Van Gogh you might consider going on Friday or Saturday evening (open till 9pm on those nights) when there aren't any tour busses dropping off large groups.
Take tram 19 towards Diemen and exit at Spieghelgracht. After you exit, track back and take a left on Spieghelgracht and keep going until you see the Rijksmuseum in front of you.
