English Heritage – much smaller than Carisbrooke, but Yarmouth’s a lovely spot for people watching, with some nice pubs and cafes to visit too.

beautiful and unique gardens – also illuminated at night. It’s privately owned and the presentation can be a bit random, but it’s a lovely walk.

it’s the oldest theme park in the world. Definitely not Disney and older thrill seekers may be disappointed by the limited rides on offer. But it is unique.

visit for the Needles themselves, the chair-lift down to the beach with it’s multi-coloured sand. Stay for the National Trust run Needles Battery, and the surprising history of the Isle Of Wight’s place in the space race.

Sandown – who doesn’t like a Dinosaur? Apart from Jeff Goldblum. Loads to see here and great for kids.
