ALBUGNANO, the famous Abbey of Santa Maria di Vezzolano, one of the jewels of the lower Monferrato, a monumental complex built in Roman-Gothic style in 1095. The exterior is a two colors of brick and sandstone and stone facade is decorated with reliefs, statues and polychrome ceramic medallions. The cloister contains frescoes of the most interesting of the '300 Piedmont. In Vezzolano centuries it was a powerful and wealthy abbey nullius, reporting directly to the pope.
Also in Albugnano we visit the ancient church of San Pietro, built in the late eleventh century, with its beautiful apse almost intact.
A MONTECHIARO D'ASTI the Saints Nazario and Celso Pieve, visited only on the outside, very suggestive, it preserves the elegant friezes on the portal and windows, as well as decorations in alternating bands of sandstone and brick, semicircular apse and a high bell tower with mullioned windows in brick and tufa.
A CORTAZZONE we find the Church of San Secondo, whose origins date back to the eleventh century. central apse stands out a fourteenth-century fresco depicting Christ flanked by San Secondo and San Siro.
A MONTIGLIO the church of San Lorenzo is one of the rare Roman churches also partially preserved inside, with carved capitals visible on three sides. Apse decorated with anthropomorphic figures.
A MONTAFIA the Parish Church of San Martino is a basilica plan building with an interior of great beauty and a unique fresco of the '400.
