Go here for some shopping, the HEB, weekly farmer's market, tennis courts,... For movies: there is a cozy Alamo Drafthouse and Blue Starlite Drive-in (super unique).
There's ample green space, including 30-acre Lake Park, with jogging trails and an open-air amphitheater.

North Loop just across the 35 is a leader in keeping Austin weird. Famed for its selection of independent and unique shops, you can find an expansive collection of vintage clothing, funky furniture, books, and records. The North Loop is also home to several new restaurants and bars, since you're so close definitely recommend to swing by.

North Loop just across the 35 is a leader in keeping Austin weird. Famed for its selection of independent and unique shops, you can find an expansive collection of vintage clothing, funky furniture, books, and records. The North Loop is also home to several new restaurants and bars, since you're so close definitely recommend to swing by.
East Austin about a 10min drive, is the hipster neighborhood of Austin (but in the best way possible). Eclectic shops, eateries and boutiques along Lady Bird Lake.

6th Street and 4th Street are famous (or infamous) for their live bars and party scene but there is a lot more to DT than just that.
From water activities, shops, and the capitol buildings to museums and galleries.
Just across the bridge is SoCo Ave: Great shopping street with a bunch of charming shops and great bars/restaurants just south of downtown.
The bridge is also the prime spot if you want to see bats flocking in and out around dawn.

Jenny swears by their Matcha Latte (she seriously tries to go every morning). Overall Hank's is solid; the restaurant has great food, the coffeeshop is tasty, and there is a fun atmosphere.

The best Brisket in the world. Insider tip: you can order online for a pick-up as well (instead of queuing for hours).
It is worth it but if you are overwhelmed by the line - try LA Barbecue. Relatively close by Franklin's, less busy, and definitely one of the best briskets you can find.

Austin is famous for breakfast taco's. Most places you can't go wrong (Paco's Tacos and Torchy's are great as well) but our absolute favorite is Veracruz in Mueller.
It's popular so there might be a little wait, but 100% worth it.

I know the struggle, try out Rebel Cheese. They have a broad selection of different vegan cheeses that actually taste good. The sandwiches are OK but a faux cheese plate with a crisp wine is highly recommended.

Must see natural swimming pool. If you end up renting a Kayak, you are even able to enter the open section of Barton Springs. Perfect on a hot day.

There are also a few restaurants on the edge of the park and also the popular Thinkery experimental place for inquisitively minded children.

2006 Philomena StA beautiful, clean and serene feel to walk in this park. Lovely to watch the ducks and tortoises enjoy the huge lake. An ideal place to take your picnic and go and relax in the middle of Austin. There are also a few restaurants on the edge of the park and also the popular Thinkery experimental place for inquisitively minded children.
