Sightseeing
The cliff path at Hermanus is one of the town's most beautiful features. It meanders for 11 km along the rugged coastline, between the New Harbour to the west, and Piet-se-Bos, just beyond Grotto Beach, to the east.

Housing a wide variety of antique, retro & vintage collectibles and memorabilia, there are few things that you won't come across at Romantiques. From militaria, china, toys, coins, badges & tobacciana to old newspaper articles, muskets and signed national certificates, Romantiques houses a wide variety of thousands of collectible items. Romantiques also has several sites to see. This includes a vintage movie theater which displays film and CD, as well as several priceless items which aren't for sale, such as their 1955 Coca-Cola Vending Machine.

There are benches and patches of grass for onlookers to rest on while they await the gentle giants.

Is Hermanus safe at night?
Hermanus is considered a safe tourist destination and usually trouble free, however petty crime does exist. Visitors are advised to take certain basic safety precautions for themselves as well as for their personal belongings: Don't walk alone at night or along the cliff path after dark.

When is whale season and best time to visit to view whales
The whale season in Hermanus is between June and December every year. Some years the Southern Right whales have arrived as early as April but the usual time for them to start arriving is at the end of May.

Whale watching cruises
Good to book a boat based whale watching trip before your visit as these trips are popular and often fully booked before your arrival. Especially between September and October.
These trips are very weather (wind) dependent so its a good idea to book it closer to the start of your stay, then its easier to reschedule if need be.
Be sure to pack a wind-proof jacket, hat, sunglasses, sunblock and sea motion tablets (if needed)
