Famous cliffs and infamous suicide spot. Lovely walks from Holywell. Drive right up to the end of the promenade on King Edward Parade, past the hotels. Park and walk uphill on top of the cliffs for great views. Holywell tea chalet tucked under the cliff good for refreshments.

You can walk here from the house. Go across the lock and walk along the beach to the west towards Pevensey bay then pick up the foot path across the fields to the castle. See my map in the guide book. There is a good pub called the Oak and Castle Inn next door.

Ancient medieval town, one of the cinque ports. Interesting, quirky shops and restaurants. Rye Harbour has a nature reserve. Camber Sands to the east has miles of beach and dunes but beware of rip tides.

Pretty village in the South Downs. There are lots of footpaths in the area including a path to the Long Man of Wilmington. A chalk figure set into the hillside.

Strange chalk figure on the hillside just off A259 west of Eastbourne. Lots of footpaths around the area with a great view from the top of the ridge. Near 2 good pubs The long Man and the Sussex Ox.

Brighton is great for a fun day out. Shopping in the quirky Lanes area, great restaurants and bars, a fun fair on the pier are just a few of the attractions. Best to go on the train from Eastbourne as parking is a nightmare and expensive. All the attractions are a short walk from the railway station.

Great sea views. Nice menu. The moules are good! Situated right on the beach this place has great views and good food. Nice place for coffee and dog friendly. Takes about 50 minutes to walk from the house to the West along the seafront, next to Treasure Island.
