The Square
There is a market, pharmacy, gift shop, multiple coffee shops, and multiple sit down eateries within a couple of blocks of the cottage. Turn left out of the driveway. Two and a half blocks will take you to the end of the street where you will see Milton Market Place on your left through the parking lot. There you will find The Fruit Center (groceries, beer, wine, sushi and more), CVS and The Plate (breakfast and lunch). Turn left at the end of Antwerp Street onto Granite Ave (one way going the other way if driving this won't work) Two blocks up, you will find Bruegger's Bagel, Body Benefit's Day Spa, Fitness Unlimited (women only), and a liquor store. Turn left again onto Adams Street. In the next two blocks, you will find Ichiro (sushi), Mr. Chan's (Chinese), Milton House of Pizza, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Abby Park, Novara, Stella's (greasy spoon-good for basic breakfast) and Bella Visage (another day spa).
Downtown Boston, Cambridge and Somerville all have great food but there is some fierce competition right in the neighborhood. Take a look at our family favorites. All within a few blocks away to a 2 mile drive.

Getting Around
Our subway system is officially the MBTA (mbta.com). We refer to it at "The T". There are 2 branches of the Red Line that are within a couple of miles from here. North Quincy and Ashmont. You can find maps in the drawer in the kitchen with all the lines and stops.. There isn't parking near the Ashmont stop. There is very limited parking at North Quincy because they are in the midst of renovations and it fills up with commuters. If you do park, the cost is $5/weekdays $3/weekends. You pay using PayByPhone app. location #4365. You should plan to Uber to and from the T stops rather than walk if you do not have a car or want to leave your car here. It's too far and on busy streets. You can also Uber into Boston. We are about 6 miles from downtown so depending on the time of day, it's not all that expensive. T fairs are $2.40-$2.90 one way, unlimited one-day pass is $12.75, unlimited 7-day pass is $22.50. The pass is good for the subway, silver line (to and from the airport) and the bus system. Don't ask me how to use the busses. I don't have a clue! You can buy your T pass at any of the subway stations. There are machines that take credit/debit cards. If you decide to drive and park in the city which is always my preference, then download the LAZ app ahead of time and park in one of their garages. You will pay much less for parking than if you take a ticket at the garage gate. You can also park on the streets at a meter. Download the ParkBoston app. You can pay on your phone or put a card in the meter. You can reload your meter from your phone. I suggest taking a photo of the back of the meter because it will ask for the area/meter number.
You can purchase a "Charlie Card" pass inside the station to get into Boston.
