Because they have one of the best hamburgers in town (wth provolone, candied bacon, caramelized red onions, grilled green tomatoes and smoked tomato-bacon aioli) AND they're a bonafide neighborhood place, right around the corner! Chef Louis LaRose takes food seriously enough to merit Lou's inclusion as one of the very best restaurants in town. And the house-made bacon is to die for. Let us know if you ever get the recipe.

Yum! The bright and airy, tapas-style restaurant also has beautiful pizzas, salads and entrees. Mediterranean + Southern cuisine, with an emphasis on the wood-fired part.

Weekday blue-plate lunches are more budget-friendly than dinner, and almost as delicious, but dinner is a standout. If there's a wait, swing by Caet, the sister wine bar, for snacks and drinks.
Now THIS is what barbeque is all about! From the unbelievably fantastic collard greens to the extensive beer menu to the outdoor dining area, the Pig & Pint has reimagined Southern cuisine to be better than ever.

Students, professors, longtime Belhavenites, etc. all enjoy the overstuffed gyros, cottage fries and justifiably famous, house-made feta sauce.

Of all of our many wonderful restaurants, Elvie's pretty much tops the list. It's beautiful, it's open all day (even for breakfast!), and the food is outrageously good--no doubt because of its talented chef, but also because ingredients are fresh, ethically sourced from local farmers and super high quality. I love its laid-back elegance, the warm staff and everything I've ever eaten there. Also, if you're just looking for a nice spot to have drinks, add Elvie's to the list!

The Apothecary features a beautiful marble-slab bar and a rustic, antique drugstore vibe, and, if you can find it, is well worth the search for the cocktails alone.
