Mr. Purifoy created the Watts Towers so is a hands down genius. Then he came out to the desert and built this garden of art and cemented his iconic status. Go in am or late afternoon for best photo light

And in the 1930’s a guy dynamited a series of holes in the ground under it and built and lived in a home inspired by desert tortoises. With a rainwater collection system. And it’s a sacred Native American Indian spot. This is peak desert.
