There is a lovely community garden here run by the non-profit City Slicker Farms. On Saturday mornings there are fresh veggies and eggs for sale, on a sliding scale.

Note, if you are going to downtown Oakland/12th St. this takes an unusual route, it does a loop after the West Oakland BART stop and circles back to downtown. There is also a market/deli here.

all versions of the 72 go to downtown Oakland/12th St. But keep in mind San Pablo is not the most pleasant street to walk along.

Even though MacArthur is the closest BART station, I almost exclusively use this one. It has the most trains to SF, and is easily accessible by bus (#26) or bicycle.

Entrances to bike trail on either side of Shellmound St. this is a very enjoyable ride, BUT the bike trail does not yet connect to Treasure Island or SF! So it's just a fun ride out and back.

A nice strip of park land runs down the middle of this boulevard, all the way from Emeryville to the West Oakland BART station. Good for a walk or a jog during the day.

This is the easiest entrance/exit to the Bay Bridge -- you will bypass much of the traffic whether going to or coming from San Francisco! (Freeway entrance at west end of street.)

Downtown Oakland has a variety of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. Easily accessible by the #72 AC Transit bus line along San Pablo. Chinatown is to the east with many excellent restaurants!

This is a friendly and lively neighborhood bar, the owners have run it for 40 years. Pool table, beer, wine, liquor. Wally's Cafe, a lunch counter in the back, has excellent Mediterranean food.

Fantastic breakfast and lunch! On a weekend, arrive before 10am, or be prepared for a wait of up to an hour -- it's popular!!
