The harbour for Lyme Regis is called the Cobb. No satisfactory explanation of the name exists but a man-made construction has served as a refuge here since at least 1313. The earliest known drawing, made in 1539, shows a basic shape similar to the present construction, and this was built after the westerly gales breached the breakwater in 1824. There have been additions since that date but the major part of the Cobb dates from then. It was connected to the mainland in 1756 and the North Wall was built in 1823.

Exeter is an ancient city on the River Exe in southwest England. Dating back to the Roman era, the Exeter City Walls surround its centre and Gothic Exeter Cathedral. Exeter Castle, a Norman landmark, overlooks leafy Northernhay and Rougemont Gardens. To their west, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) displays fine art and costumes. The vaulted, medieval Underground Passages snake beneath the city.

Dartmoor may look like a natural, wild place but, if you look more closely, you can see traces of past lives etched into the land itself. People have been using the moor for over 10,000 years, and you can see the signs of those who have settled here, farmed the land, and dug for resources such as tin, iron, silver and granite, if you look closely.

Our first time back to Toast since lockdown and delighted with the experience. Sitting in the beautiful garden was an absolute pleasure. Staff warm and welcoming and extremely helpful guiding me through the online ordering system. Gluten friendly pizza was delicious. Would definitely recommend.
