Fern Valley RoadThis is a great trail to access right out the door on foot, its an easy hike and has great views.
This is a great moderate hike also accessible walking out the door. You start hiking up a steep incline on a dirt road but then once you reach the actual trail head it becomes a beautiful path with great views. This hike is long to the top so don't hesitate to just do some of it!
There are also campsites and areas where you can have a campfire (yellow stakes) and so sometimes on an adventurous evening we’ll drive up for a sunset picnic. You must have 4-wheel drive to drive up this (and an experienced mountain driver)
South Ridge Trail

This is my personal favorite spot in idyllwild- go see Helen and Jason at the best pottery studio- they’ve set up their ceramics shop so that it’s almost like outdoor shopping during covid- you can also book a reservation to learn how to make pottery or have a go on the wheel.

Such a unique destination spot- the BEST pies in the world- the bbq ribs are incredible - and even in covid you can sit outside out back and almost feel like life is normal again. It’s a little bit of a drive from idyllwild but it’s scenic and lovely.
