Good coffee and GIANT fancy donuts a three block walk from the apartment. We prefer their savory breakfast items, but donut people go crazy for these.

There is plenty to explore in the French Quarter and all along Frenchman Street. By the time you’ve made it to DBA and the Spotted Cat (ideally around 6 or 10 for one of their nightly shows), you’ll hopefully understand why they get shouted out.

The only plantation museum in Louisiana experienced from the perspective of enslaved people. A transformative experience. It’s a drive, but very worth it. You need a car - Uber doesn’t operate in the area.

City Park is full to overflowing with fun for families and adults. City Putt, surrey and paddleboat rentals, NOMA and the *free* sculpture garden are some of my favorites.

Head as far uptown as the river will allow and spend some time under the majestic oak trees. Audubon Zoo and Golf Club are tucked in here as well.
