Lillehammer has a small, but nice and traditional Norwegian style town centre with the main street being mainly pedestrian.
Being the place for the 1994 Winter Olympics, you may visit the Olympic museum, the ski jump, or maybe try out some of the cross country ski tracks used?
If you want to travel by public transport to/from Sjusjøen you are likely to switch between train and bus here.

My little home town has some nice cafés, good sushi, the highest wooden building, and a nice beach promenade :-) A good place to to visit, or stop by on your way to or from Sjusjøen.

Natrudstilen ski slopes, summer cycling and nice café
Sjusjøen Ski Center Natrudstilen offers family friendly ski slopes and a chairlift to the top and runs ranging from green to black. Very nice cafe at the top which is also a suitable target for Cross country skiing.

Pellestova has a good kitchen and nice views. It is a nice place to go to as part of a tour. In winter you can ski on great trails and in summer you can go by bike (or car).
