Wonderful little Italian restaurant with mouth-watering daily specials. Try the grilled brussel sprouts as an appetizer. If you're leery of overly big portions, Shells & Sauce has an uncommonly good Happy Hour. This is a good place to go before or after the Denver Botanic Gardens, which is a short walk to the west.

Another good, inexpensive Italian restaurant with a great patio when weather permits. They have an unusual Happy Hour in late evening, after the theater. Check out their ousters.

Just because. Bonnie Brae has great ice cream and yogurt and is a great place to hang out with the neighbors. On weekends, you may even get some entertainment while you're waiting in the inevitable line.

Because it's Red Rocks. This is the most stunning concert venue, and it happens to be a favorite of mine because our son and daughter-in-law were married there. Tickets can sell out quickly but take a look just in case. Go to http://www.redrocksonline.com/concerts-events for tickets unless you want to pay higher prices from an after-market seller.

Fiddler's Green is an amphitheatre in the middle of Greenwood Village, just 5-10 minutes from our home. It gets some great acts each summer. You have the choice of lawn seating or chairs.

And the best part is you can take a 20-minute light rail from the Yale Station to the Convention Center/Theater District and avoid the traffic/parking hassle of downtown.

Getting Around
The Yale RTD station is just one-third mile away and has free parking. It's the most convenient way to get downtown, allowing you to skip the traffic and parking. The best destinations are Union Station (i.e., if going to a Rockies game) or the Convention Center/Theater District.
