Aubeterre-sur-Dronne is a commune in the Charente department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south-western France. It has been officially listed as "One of the most beautiful villages in France," since 1993. Aubeterre-sur-Dronne is also well known for its Church of Saint Jean, an underground, Monolithic Church.
Just an easy hour drive to visit the remains of a Roman amphitheatre (known locally as the arènes romaines) the centre of which has been turned into a green park with a water fountain; the remains of a temple of the Gallic goddess "Vesunna"; and a luxurious Roman villa, called the "Domus of Vesunna", built around a garden courtyard surrounded by a colonnaded peristyle now housed in the Vesunna Gallo-Roman Museum; and of course Périgueux Theater Palace,
Saint-Étienne Church and the Périgueux Cathedral some parts dating back to 1120.
This city is steeped in history but is also great to wander through the old cobbled streets and enjoy the many boutiques and restaurants.

Lascaux is the setting of a complex of caves near the village of Montignac. Over 600 parietal wall paintings cover the interior walls and ceilings of the cave. Take a day and enjoy Montignac as well!

Beautiful town sitting on the banks of the River Vézère, the town has medieval streets and a market selling the area’s famed black truffles. A trip to Lascaux and Montignac is a must!! We can recommend great restaurants who serve and sell their own amazing wines!

Food scene
Our little village, complete with grocery store , exceptional butcher, traditional baker who do actualy still 'make' their bread, the bar, post office & Marie. The village comes alive every Tuesday evening in July and August for 'Les Festines' and is renowned for great music, food and atmosphere. It's very well attended by locals and visitors from far and wide . A great experience to understand French summer celebrations!

Set on the banks of the Dordogne, Saturday morning is the time to go and enjoy the enormous market; stock up with your favourite French delicacies, while away an hour in a coffee shop or bar and absorb the atmosphere.
Just 15 minutes away and already in the Gironde region. St Seurin is a lovely small town which has a good station accessing the route between Bordeaux and Perigueux; kayak hire on the river; sports complex with heated pool and spa and of course the Sunday morning market, another local must!

Just 15 minutes away and already in the Gironde region. St Seurin is a lovely small town which has a good station accessing the route between Bordeaux and Perigueux; kayak hire on the river; sports complex with heated pool and spa and of course the Sunday morning market, another local must!

Great for walkers, families and couples. It takes us about 1 1/4 hours to walk all around. However if you only want to relax then there is a super beach with lifeguards in high season, two little beach bars and a restaurant. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the forest - it’s a wonderful place for friends and families to enjoy the outdoors.

Étang de LarocheGreat for walkers, families and couples. It takes us about 1 1/4 hours to walk all around. However if you only want to relax then there is a super beach with lifeguards in high season, two little beach bars and a restaurant. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the forest - it’s a wonderful place for friends and families to enjoy the outdoors.
Wonderful place - either walk all around, stopping for a cool drink en route or go to the beachside which has plenty of parking and enjoy the well kept sands, swimming with life guards, the beach bars and their great menus.
Or just stop halfway round and admire the natural beauty! Take a picnic, find a table in amongst the pines and relax ......
