You can do laundry at my house. The Acme (large supermarket) is open 24/7 for groceries. There is also at that location a pharmacy, liquor store, dollar store, laundry and dry cleaners, Subway sandwich shop, Dunkin Donuts, a post office, and a Chinese takeout restaurant.

Super cheap eat in or take out. A huge dinner of roast chicken, rice and beans, and plantains is under $4. Where the locals have been eating for 50 years. Great café con leche!

Very close to me! Delicious, healthful, Middle Eastern food, cheap, and usually quiet. BYO (bring-your-own) beverages, beer or wine, can be bought next door at the liquor store.

OMG, the Jalea and the Ceviche at this place are amazing, also the fish stew and roast chicken. Very affordable; you pay half what the same meal would cost you in Manhattan.

This is a huge designer discount mall and the bus to it (about $4 each way) runs from right near me in Weehawken. Many of my European guests have happily shopped until they dropped there. It's all indoors, so great for a rainy day. Mostly clothing and accessories. No tax on clothing, better than Century or Woodbury.

Arts & Culture

I used to work here. Exhibits change every few months, the permanent collection is fabulous, and film screenings are included with admission. Fridays after 3pm it's free and open late but crowded. In the summer they have great concerts in the sculpture garden.

I go here often because the history of NYC is so rich and full of surprises, you can never learn it all or become bored with it. You will learn things here no tour guide or guidebook will ever tell you.

I go to Manhattan for theater, ballet, concerts, the works. Ask me about tdf and the skint for excellent ticket discounts and listings of free and cheap things to do. And in summer, there are tons of free concerts, festivals, and outdoor movies, which you will also find on the skint and at nycgo dot com.
