A nice 25-min bike ride to some trendy restaurants, some with live music, coffee shops and quaint shops. Lots of cool photo ops. There's a live theatre spot too. Cobblestones are not so friendly for high heels. :)

This mall has everything! It's about 25 minute walk from our house if you walk west on Queen Street or Shuter Street. A lot of it is underground, so can also stay out of the cold in the winter months!

You will need to take a bus or train from Union Station to get to this world famous waterfall. Half of the waterfall is in Canada and half is in the US. Lots of touristy shops, restaurants, a big casino (you need to be over 19 years of age), night clubs, bars. Other attractions too. It takes about 1.5 hours to reach there.

The AGO is free if you're under 25 and also every Wednesday night starting from 6pm. Order your free ticket online for quicker access. If you're into art, you can spend hours there. There's a cafe on the 2nd floor (check the hours) and a restaurant on the main floor but it's close to Chinatown and Kensington market, which has cheaper eats.

Every 3rd Tuesday evening of the month, the ROM is free admission! You'll be greeted by a giant dinosaur inside the lobby. You can spend hours in here. They also have special events and talks, which are included in your admission price. Check out their website. I like their Friday night ROM party nights. They have a DJ and other fun activities. Check online for the Friday night party schedule as they may be only in the summers.

If you are curious where our Canadian tax money is going to, this library is one example. All the services here are free, including the media room. Only the 3D printing has a small charge and Balzac's coffeeshop is separate. Don't forget to check out the newspaper room in the basement and the art gallery next to the lobby.

I've been here once when they had the panda exhibit. Bring comfortable walking shoes, bottled water and snacks. I believe they have a cafeteria but it was quite basic from what I remember. You can take the normal TTC buses to get there and on the weekends, there's a special TTC bus too.

This place is right out of Downton Abbey! Hidden passageways, parking for your horse and carriage, grand ballrooms and a regal garden to die for. Even if you don't go inside, there's a stairway going up to Casa Loma that has a great view of CN Tower at the top of the stairs. Just go north on Spadina Road about 15 minutes walking to the end of Spadina Road. There you will find the start of the stairs.

Broadview and Gerrard Street is the start of one of five or six Chinatowns in Toronto. A mix of authentic Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants. Note most close at 10pm. Also, there's little Chinese grocery stores too. This is where I get cheap fruit and vegetables and lots more.

Walk East along Queen Street. After the bridge, there's lots of bars, pubs, restaurants, a liquor store, Dollarama (dollar store) and some clothing shops. Trendy but not too expensive. (Don't know why there's a pic of farm animals!)

This is a cool neighbourhood to walk around in. It's just north west of Chinatown if you walk north on Spadina. There are hip restaurants, bars, lounges, and shops. It is safe to walk at night. During the weekends in the summer the streets are closed to cars sometimes and musicians (buskers) perform on the street corners for money. Very colourful people and lots of tourists.
