A great “locals” pub with excellent beer at just £3 a pint. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Lunches every day including Sunday. Lovely garden that looks up at Chepstow castle. You can book breakfast there if you ring them and mention you’re staying at Vine Cottage. The photo shown here via Air BnB is not a The Tuns- it’s the Greek restaurant! Dog-friendly.

If you’re in the area for a few days then it’s worth making the journey to this restaurant. Absolutely fabulous fish.

Lovely to sit outside on a nice day by the river and look at the bridge - and England! Inside not so nice. Tapas and cocktails, normal bar and restaurant. Staff can be snippy but location is fab. Haven’t eaten there for a while.

If you like beer, you’ll love this brewery! They do tasting sessions and also a pizza night on the first Saturday of the month. Check what’s going on with them during COVID though.

Tiny, friendly pub where you become a local after your first pint. Interesting beer. Wins all sorts of CAMRA awards. Dogs welcome but it’s a bit small and Ralph gets his tail trodden on.

This is a magical garden, natural and with fab sculptures placed around. Beautiful views of the Wye Valley and only 15 minute drive from Vine Cottage. Only open on selected Sundays so check it’s open. Well worth a visit.

A walk with spectacular view of Tintern Abbey. You can walk all the way down to Tintern on the path - but you’ll have to walk back again! You can buy ice cream from local dairy en route if you go from car park just past Tidenham church.
