Directly across the Big Walnut Creek, Lockbourne is a small community with a rich history. Lockbourne grew around the development and operation of three “locks” on the leg of the Erie Canal that connected the two major parallel portions that ran north-south through Ohio. The Erie Canal allowed local farms to flourish, transporting labor and crops throughout the state. Lockbourne was naturally the home of one of Ohio’s first distillery’s, producing and shipping whiskey via the Canal. The distillery was closed during America’s early 1900’s prohibition of alcohol. The Canal’s history was also short lived as the railroad took over as a quicker and cheaper form of transportation.

Food scene
A fun excursion for harness racing fans in the summer and slot machine gambling year round. They offer a couple bars, including a brewery with a decent menu, and occasional live entertainment, as well as multiple large screens showing live sporting events.
