These suggestions are based on a few years of feedback from our many guests - and also some of our own favourites! Not in priority sequence, just the order they were added. Those marked with ** within 1km from the villa.

**Good spot for drinks, a game of pool while you're waiting to eat. Large menu of Western food as well as Thai basics. Known for their English Sunday roasts ! They do takeaways, and will give you a menu so the next time you can phone your order ahead

**Short walk from house to the west (500m). Small but great spot and a firm favourite for many of our guests. Friendly, helpful Thai owners to take care of you. Excellent Thai food, very reasonable prices and an authentic local experience.

Thong Krut sea front location, great Thai food with some interesting twists plus some western favourites. Cooking classes may be booked with the chef/owner - and they also arrange boat trips. You will have great evening dinner here.

**Close to the house - 300m walk east into Bang Kao village. On the seafront side at the far end of the village. Wide choice of Thai and western food & drinks. Will box for takeaway - maybe even deliver for a large order!

In Thong Krut village - 2 locations, one on the sea side and one opposite on the inland side which is the elevated "High View" to give great sea views. Nice selection of Thai dishes (some western selections also). Best early evening for the sunset views.

InterContinental Koh Samui Resort
Head to Baan Taling Ngam on the west coast early evening (see local map). Several fine restaurants - one right on the beach and others up on the hillside. Park and take the tram ride up. The Air Bar has wonderful views, great drinks selection and live music most evenings. Pricey but worth it once in a while for that special occasion !

If you need a Japanese food fix (and who doesn't!) this is a great choice. Not local but only 30 mins drive to Nathon. You will find it on the RHS of the road as you go round the 1 way system entering Nathon. Wander down the central narrow road and see the old Chinese style shop houses

If you need a Japanese food fix (and who doesn't!) this is a great choice. Not local but only 30 mins drive to Nathon. You will find it on the RHS of the road as you go round the 1 way system entering Nathon. Wander down the central narrow road and see the old Chinese style shop houses
On Thong Tanod bay - go past Thong Krut, turn left at the snake farm crossroads go about 2 km and look for sign French Kiss to the left. Lovely location right on the water with great food and wine. Worth seeking this one out!

These are some of the interesting local places to visit. Our guests have given positive comments on them all, but of course it depends on individual interests!

4169Beautiful wooded area around the waterfall, swimming, huge ancient trees, small Thai food restaurants and some souvenir shops. This is where Thai families go at weekends and on holidays.
Note there are 2 waterfalls at Na Meuang. This is the original, also known as Waterfall 1. Waterfall 2 - Safari Park is close by but not at all the same experience - highly commercial, expensive and questionable treatment of their animals. Not recommended!
From Thong Krut Pier - 3km west in Thong Krut village - take a long-tail boat trip out to Koh Tan island. Snorkel, swim, feed the tropical fish, drop-off on Koh Tan beach and have lunch in a great little restaurant. Steamed fish always wonderful.

Close to the main Lamai open market and well worth a visit one Sunday evening - but its crowded and parking close by may be difficult.
Many small stalls with all kinds of food, and interesting small items as gifts to take home. Enjoy !

139/16 Thanon Had LamaiClose to the main Lamai open market and well worth a visit one Sunday evening - but its crowded and parking close by may be difficult.
Many small stalls with all kinds of food, and interesting small items as gifts to take home. Enjoy !
Coconut wood handicraft shop. On the road north to Nathon. OTOP (One Tambon One Product) handicraft shop , left side of road, just before the Ban Saket open market and opposite Chevrolet car dealer. Great selection of coconut wood items, and go look at the workshop behind.
Excellent selection of items crafted from Samui coconut wood. Great for souvenirs and small gifts to take home. The workshop is right behind the store so go take a look while you are there.

Fish and seafood straight from the boats. This is the real deal and the best and freshest fish shrimp and squid you'll find. Go at sunrise, shop for seafood then have a rice soup breakfast in one of the small shops nearby.
Hua Thanon is 5km to the east on the road to Lamai.
5 mins walk away - turn right out of the driveway, take first concrete road on left, follow the road for 150m and you are there! Acoustic Cafe for some drinks and snacks ( check its open before making plans) and the disc golf course starts right there too. If you're interested in music talk to the owner (a guitarist) and sometimes you'll find some live music there.
