Drinks & Nightlife

One of my favourite bars in Montreal is just around the corner. They have excellent drinks for an affordable price, cool vibe and two old school duckpin bowling lanes in the corner. The place is queer friendly and known as the best lesbian bar in Montreal.

Food Scene

Lucky to have Vieux Velo down the road. It is nothing fancy but great for brunch and lunches. Try out their eggs Benedict.

Little Italy has the best pizzas in Montreal. This one is one of my top recommendations for Montreal's version of an Italian pizza experience. Come early or reserve a table cause the place gets crowded rather fast.

Parks & Nature

I find it pretty unusual to have a mountain in the middle of a city. It gives a nice break from the busy city scape. I would definitely recommend going for a walk up the hill.

Shopping

I absolutely love this market, especially in the summer and the autumn. Farmers from Montreal's catchment area sell their produce, which means things are fresh and there is plenty of organic products. During weekends it is a very lively place with street musicians, street food, and lots of smell and colours.

Getting Around

The city bikes, Bixies, works fairly well in Montreal. It is a nice way to get around the city and you get a very different feel for how the city is organized and how neighbourhoods are connected than if you use the Metro system (which is also pretty cool). The central repair workshop for Bixi bikes is just down the road so you are guaranteed a well oiled bike if you use this station.

Sightseeing

Going for a tour in underground metro system is a tourist attraction in itself. Each station is different and carefully designed. You can find over one hundred works of public art. "The Montreal Metro is renowned for its architecture and public art. Under the direction of Drapeau, a competition among Canadian architects was held to decide the design of each station, ensuring that every station was built in a different style by a different architect. Several stations, such as Berri-UQAM, are important examples of modernist architecture, and various system-wide design choices were informed by the International Style.... " - From wikipedia
