Sightseeing

Caswell is the sandy beach that can be seen in the distance from the bunkhouse window. You can walk there from the cabin, it takes about 45mins. It is possible to drive and park at Caswell, but the car park fills up very quickly in the busy season. It is a good place to launch kayaks and paddleboards. There are public toilets and showers, and a small cafe that sells decent bacon butties. It is possible to rent surfboards and take surf lessons at Caswell.

It’s easy to miss from the road and not marked on many maps, but walk just 10 minutes from the parking area and you’ll come to a giant, balancing boulder, standing watch over the North Gower coastline and across the Loughor estuary to the ‘mainland’. Known as Arthur’s Stone, or Maen Ceti in Welsh, legend has it that the king found the rock in his shoe and threw it all the way from Carmarthenshire. Touched by the hand of King Arthur, the stone grew in size. https://www.discoveringbritain.org/activities/wales/viewpoints/gower-viewpoint.html
