A great place to hike, relax, take the kids to play and visit. Find all sorts of wildlife on your hike.
Visit Ninigret with the kids. Take your bicycles, roller skates or blades, or anything on wheels (no motors). Also, take your hiking shoes, or bathing suits. There's everything here! A sweet little beach for youngsters, playgrounds and treasures. This used to be an old airbase, so the runways are still there. Ninigret Park also hosts several concerts during the season, and even has a circus come by. Check with Ninigret for dates and listings.

Fresh meats and seafood, GREAT breakfast delights, muffins and croissants. This Mini market specializes in local favorites and is a must for your morning paper (local and major newspapers), coffee and danish. Ask for local meats and fishes that are usually quite fresh at the butchers counter.

If you want REALLY fresh, just came off the boat, seafood, then Narragansett is the place to be. There are several shops there. Seals have been spotted lounging around the piers. The fishing boats arrive most mornings with their catches. By the way, this is where you would catch the ferry to Block Island for a day trip.

Great shopping, great food and one of the most quaint islands in the US. You can stay overnight with reservations, or just make it a day trip, either way, it is UNFORGETTABLE.
EVERYTHING is in Newport, but the HUGE attraction is obviously the mansions, or should I say the yachts? I'm just not sure because there is SO much to do. Shopping, touring mansions, swimming, boating, eating, or even just walking up and down the famous Ocean Walk with the ocean on one side and the Mansions on the other. You'll never see anything like it anywhere else. And if you like boats, well.... you had better leave at least one full day for the famous Newport harbor..

EVERYTHING is in Newport, but the HUGE attraction is obviously the mansions, or should I say the yachts? I'm just not sure because there is SO much to do. Shopping, touring mansions, swimming, boating, eating, or even just walking up and down the famous Ocean Walk with the ocean on one side and the Mansions on the other. Just ANOTHER place to explore, Jamestown offers unique shops, wonderful night scene and fabulous restaurants where you can get the freshest and the best clam chowder, crab, lobster, or clams. Don't miss Jamestown.

Historic Mystic is a must-visit site. One of the few areas that really feels like early America. Historic homes, boatyards, museums, everything for the family. The kids would LOVE it as well as the parents.

Have you ever thought of visiting the Submarine Museum in Groton? About 40 minutes away and a great place to take the kids. At the end our E. Arnolda Drive, just a short walk from the house, cross the street to get to the church. If you look left, you will see the library, and next to the library is the Historical Society. This little building used to be the local school. To the right of the church is one of the older cemeteries in the US. If you like to do stone rubbings, you will be able to find many stones from the 1700s.
If you walk to the left, down the hill towards the Town Dock Road and that first intersection, you will find really cute shops on both sides of the road.
Visit the library as well. Local artwork with be hanging and the library welcomes visitors to look through their collection of books, etc

An absolute MUST for the children, try to catch the golden ring for a free ride. The cove is filled with boats, and the sidewalks lined with really adorable shops packed with all sorts of goodies from beautiful clothing and furniture to absolutely the best candy shop in the area. You can easily spend the day shopping then go down to the public beach and relax for an hour our two.
