“Snowdon is 3500ft and depending on levels of fitness it is a great walk. The views are stunning but on a misty day it can be very cold towards the top. Please be advised that you do need really good walking shoes as the ground under foot can be uneven. For those less able or if you would like to go to the summit with the least effort take the train but you will need to book in advance as this is very popular. ”

“In my opinion, the perfect Welsh castle. The setting is romantic, the walk up is pleasant and not strenuous, the views are amazing, encompassing farmland and wild hills. I love taking a torch and waking under the depths of the castle to the spring. There is a walk from the castle around the hills and back to the castle car park, which is scenic and varied.”

“While you explore the Pier Head and Albert Dock areas, don’t miss statues of The Beatles (celebrating their final visit to Liverpool) and of Liverpool rock idol, Billy Fury. Also of note: early UK rocker Tommy Steele installed a statue of Eleanor Rigby near Matthew Street. And on Matthew Street itself you can find statues of singer Cilla Black and John Lennon. ”

“Hay Bluff is a popular walk, as is Twmpa (also known as Lord Hereford's Knob), both really achievable mountain peaks giving incredible views. Take the route from the lower car park for a steeper climb, or go up to the very top car park before it heads back downwards towards Llanthony and park here for a more gentle ascent or to go up Twmpa. ”

“There's usually something going on here and even if there are no art exhibitions or recitals when you visit, the cathedral is still worth looking around. Also make sure you check out the lovely Grade II-listed Georgian Abbey Square next to the cathedral. The Bishop's House is here and also look out for the two sandstone cottages built in 1626. We lived in number 13 for a while, so if you want some insider information on the interior, just ask.”
