“Head up to the quaint St. John's neighborhood to walk around, see a movie, and/or head to Cathedral Park with a picnic in-tow. We like to stock up on picnic foods at New Seasons Grocery beforehand. It's worth it for the views of the St. John's bridge alone!”

“Ok. Ignore this photo. Not a good representation of their cuisine. Imagine comfort food as comforting as you've ever had. Amazing breads. Sumptuous salads. Wholesome soups. Grits. Fluffly pancakes. We don't go here often because it's hard to get into, but if you're patient and want to experience amazingly prepared just good food, go here. And check out their instagram. ”

“The focal feature at Peninsula Park is The Rose Garden, a gorgeous display of Portland's official flower, which is meticulously maintained by Portland's Master Gardners and is frequently the site of professional photographer sittings and arts events. The entire park is a equally pleasant with large trees, wide curving walks, large open spaces, and a classic 1930's swimming pool cabana.”

“This popular coffee and donut cafe specializes in fried-to-order mini-donuts and chai drinks. There is often a line, but it’s so worth the wait (plus, waiting in line for food is a quintessential Portland experience). The miniature size of their donuts are great for kids and if you go within 7 days of your birthday you get a FREE dozen donuts! Located about 2 miles south .”

“Toro Bravo is a Spanish restaurant in NE Portland, Oregon created by restaurateur chef John Gorham. The menu of pintxos, tapas, charcuteria, and raciones changes daily based on seasonal variations, local farmers' produce, and the kitchen crew's inspiration, incorporating elements of modern technique and unexpected flavors into classic Spanish cuisine. The beverage program focuses on both the Pacific Northwest and Spain with wine, beer, imaginative cocktails and a large selection of sherry. The open dining room of wood and industrial accents and Sangria Red walls helps create the lively and vibrant atmosphere that has secured Toro Bravo as one of Portland’s favorite restaurants since opening in 2007. In 2013, Gorham released The Toro Bravo Cookbook brimming with irreverent stories and nearly one hundred recipes, which has since been venerated by chefs, home cooks, and national media alike.”

“Delicious local bistro serving French breakfast with an impressive selection of pastries, baked goods, and desserts. They are very popular for brunch, so get there early or expect a wait. “Go out the front door and head south past the Steel Bridge to enjoy jogging, walking, biking, skateboarding, fountain play, lunching, basketball, fireworks viewing, Segwaying, boat watching, sunrises and sunsets. Due to its recreational use, lunch hours are peak-use hours for the waterfront park. In addition to recreational use, the park is also highly used by bike and pedestrian commuters during rush hours because the park is easily accessible to the downtown Portland workforce and provides a pleasant, off street thoroughfare away from vehicular traffic. It is currently home to the Waterfront Blues Festival, Oregon Brewers Festival, Gay/Lesbian Pride Festival and the Bite of Oregon.”
