“The Museum and Library are housed in the same building as the Theophilos Museum. Sixteen of its 20 rooms display the 29 books by the prominent art critic and publisher Eleftheriadis-Tériade, with illustrations by famous 20th century artists such as Picasso, Chagall, Villon, Leger, Matisse, and others. Each room has a showcase containing one of his books, intact. The surrounding walls display most of the book’s plates and pages, as well as paintings by the renowned Greek painter Yannis Tsarouchis.”

“Tο Iερό των Μέσων αποτελεί ένα από τα σημαντικότερα μνημεία της Λέσβου. Από τον αρχαίο ναό σώζεται μόνο η θεμελίωσή του και το εσωτερικό των βαθμίδων της κρηπίδας, ενώ φαίνονται η κόγχη του Ιερού της παλαιοχριστιανικής βασιλικής και ο μεταβυζαντινός ναός του Ταξιάρχη. The Sanctuary of Messon (Mesa Sanctuary) In the beginning of 4th century AD, the temple was destroyed and its architectural features were utterly crashed. The following years important repairs took place. In early Christian times, a basilica was built on the top of the temple, which was later supplanted by the post-Byzantine church of Taxiarhis.”

“Plomari Folk Museum is housed on the first floor of a building at the central square of Plomari town. On the ground level operates one of the oldest and traditional coffee-houses of the area. The museum houses a significant collection of traditional outfits, household utensils, historical documents, books and coins. The library of Eirini Naflioptou, who was the first female doctor in the island, is also very interesting.”
