“The famous Blue Flag beach – Bikini Beach, Gordon’s Bay lies tucked against the Gordon’s Bay old harbour wall which shelters this fantastic beach from the southerly winds that often blow during the summer months. The beach is said to have been named because of the bikinis worn by students from nearby Stellenbosch University. Lifeguards are on duty during the Blue Flag season (December to March). There is limited parking close to the beach but a short walk away there is timed parking available at the harbour.”

“This is the kids favourite holiday activity, especially when all the cousins come along. It opens at 10. Choose a day that is not too windy as it can be chilly to have the cold wind blowing on the wet bodies. ”

“There is a trail going up to the top. We normally go up from Glencairn Heights, and follow the trail up to the beacon. Its only about 30 mins, and the view from the top is so rewarding for so little effort. You look out at False Bay over Fishoek and Muizenberg to the left and towards Simonstown to the right. you feel on top of the world!”
