The Beach House Studio, is in the perfect private location next to the Beach, it's a 2 minute walk to a surf spot, or to a great pub or one of the 2 cafes where you can enjoy the sun going down on the Atlantic coastline. The Room has an amazing view and you can hear and smell the salty sea. The owners live next door but do not intrude on your space or privacy Stuart is a teacher and an artist, and Selina who has an eye for detail and style, works locally.
The Beach House studio is a self contained studio room (self catering )with private access and (URL HIDDEN) is in an elevated position overlooking Crackington Haven Beach, with sea views from every window that are breath taking. The sun sets over the sea in summer months and the bay has a surrounding atmosphere and light that attracts many artists to Cornwall. The studio has a compact ensuite shower room with loo and small basic kitchenette area with kettle, microwave and fridge(tea coffee and milk are provided) There is also an electric ‘looky likey’ woodburning stove and a cosy 2 Seater sofa.
Crackington Haven is an area of outstanding natural beauty nestled between 2 stunning coast paths. You could catch a bus along the coastal road and enjoy walking the coast path home, where you will discover secluded valleys remote beaches, ancient woodlands and rare birds and beautiful scenery. As previously mentioned we are lucky to have a vibrant local pub that serves great food alongside 2 excellent cafes, that are open all day long, for breakfast, lunch, dinner all of which have sea views. There is also a tennis court adjacent to and overlooking the sea Crackington is perfect for Surfing, and is known for its amazing waves;(surf lessons may be booked in advance) Also great for fishing, swimming,or simply sitting and reading. The beach is recommended by the marine conservation society and is listed in its good beach guide There is a well stocked friendly post office and shop nearby at Wainhouse Corner and we also strongly recommend a visit to the Boscastle farm shop for provisions or a delicious meal.

A romantic retreat for two, in a rustic, pastoral setting. The Treehouse is an open-plan, loft-style, timber-clad cabin, complete with a sauna, stereo system and piano, set amidst the trees away from the lane, overlooking a tranquil wooded valley, off the beaten track, only 2 miles from the beach. The air from this natural deciduous wood away from the roads is the cleanest, and healthiest you will ever breathe!
Formerly a large barn, the Treehouse ( weighing in at a whopping 22ft x 40ft), being set away from the main house of Trewarden, is completely private. Ideal for writers, or musicians, it has its own piano, plus a 4 speaker classic stereo system with a record and CD collection to delve into. Listen to the sounds of your choice while roasting in the Sauna, rinse off in the powerful shower, and then sit outside under the moonlight by the barbecue, lit up by the outside lights. It is warm in winter, with a cosy wood burner, while being light and airy in Summer. The perfect place for a dog to roam as we have two fields in which to exercise off the lead, and a copse outside the back door. Please arrange with us in advance if you would like to bring a dog as there will be an additional charge £20 charge, and it will be subject to prior approval.
We are two miles from the beach but right off the beaten track down a narrow lane with little traffic. Walking down to the beach via the back lanes is a real treat. Once there, sit and relax at one of two cafe's or if the weather's right, enjoy a spectacular sunset followed by fish and chips at our local pub, The Coombe Barton.

NOT SUITABLE FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY/FITNESS ISSUES From Old Road through garden to self contained unit within our cottage. 2 minute walk to harbour and village. Kitchen/sitting room with electric woodburner. Spiral staircase leading to bedroom with ensuite loo/shower (macerater). A quiet and peaceful little pad set back from the village, just the sound of the Jordan river below, the owls in the wood opposite will serenade you at night and the song birds will be singing away in the morning
PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE A LOT OF STEEP, IRREGULAR, WOBBLY SOMETIMES SLIPPERY STEPS FROM THE ROAD TO THE DOOR. ANYONE WITH SIGHT AND OR MOBILITY ISSUES MAY FIND THESE TOO DIFFICULT. THE PATH IS DARK AT NIGHT AND IN WINTER. INSIDE (WHICH WE HAVE SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS) IS A SPIRAL STAIRCASE WHICH AGAIN IS NARROW AND NOT IDEAL FOR EVERYONE. However! Tastefully and lovingly converted first two floors of our 250 year old cottage. A perfect bolthole to give guests private and cosy accommodation to relax in after a hard day on the beach or wandering around the harbour. . The en suite shower cubicle is a good, standard size, the shower room/area itself is rather 'compact' and due to this the basin is tiny (!) its the only one we could get to fit and only really big enough for tooth brushing and hand washing but thats about it. We sometimes use the steps past the entrance door ourselves to get to and from the village but we do our absolute best to respect guests privacy. PLEASE NOTE due to our location (you'll see why when you get here) there is no radio or TV signal (believe me we have tried) so bring a laptop as the WiFi is excellent! Most guests appreciate the peace and quiet. Please note check out is strictly 10am.
Boscastle is very friendly and great fun. Pretty much zero crime. The beautiful coastal footpath that goes right around the Cornish coast is on the doorstep. In winter walking across a wild, windswept, deserted Cornish beach is one of the best things in the world to do, likewise when the sun shines, the temperature rises and the water is sparkling clear, its heaven. A stroll round the harbour is a must, see the famous blowhole, beautiful sea birds, the fishing boats going in and out on the tide and more often than not the seals put in an appearance too!

'Captain's Cabin' is a great base for exploring the incredible North Cornish coastline or relaxing on the decking with a good book and our homemade cream tea! You can walk across the meadows to Tintagel Castle, village pubs & cafes galore! Explore the lane up to National Trust land and the dramatic coastpath where you can head southwest for 3/4 of a mile to Trebarwith Strand or head in the other direction to Bossiney Beach, Rocky Valley & famous Boscastle Harbour.
Captain's Cabin is a unique and cosy hideaway set in the large garden of the main house. It is very comfortable with a good quality mattress on a king-sized bed & an en-suite with a large, hot shower and a walk in wardrobe. There is WIFI in the cabin, a TV, a small fridge and tea making facilities. The Cabin has private use of very simple kitchen facilities (fridge, freezer, microwave, single hob etc) which are available in the separate barn (which can be cold!). There is ample parking available at the main house & it is a level walk across the grass to the cabin.
Trevillick is a quiet, tucked away hamlet 1/2 a mile from Tintagel. Along with a stunning sea view in many directions, it is also surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and has direct access down a dusty (or muddy!) track to stunning National Trust land and footpaths in every direction! Tintagel is a small and friendly village which is famously linked to the legend of King Arthur. Don't forget to grab a pasty at Pengenna's! The most delicious and largest pasties known to man! Tintagel Castle and the beach is around a 1 mile walk from the cabin along the dramatic coastline. From here you can also walk to Trebarwith Strand, Bossiney Bay, Rocky Valley, Boscastle and beyond! There are also gorgeous places to visit in a car such as Port Isaac, the famous fishing village, which is a 20 minute drive and Wadebridge, a lively hub where you can hire bikes and cycle along the camel trail to Padstow, a snazzy fishing port.

The Cherry Lodge with wood-burning hot tub, large balcony and private garden area. Two bedrooms with family bathroom. Central heating with fully integrated kitchen and dishwasher. All you could need for a self-catering holiday including TV, DVD, WII Console, books and games, wood, bedding and towels. Parking in front of lodge. There is a laundry, play area, games room, field, meadow and woodland walk. Local beach 2 miles with pub and cafes. (If the dates are not available check out the Maple)
This lodge has a lovely big balcony with a great view over the countryside in a rural location. It also has a private garden with wood-burning hot tub and barbecue. We provide the wood for the hot-tub. It is very private and the tub is only for those using the Cherry Lodge.
Our neighbourhood is very friendly with a village hall half a mile down the road. Here there are often events which are open to all. There is also another lovely play area for children. There is a shop/post office 2 miles from the park which seems to sell most things. Down at the beach there is a lovely pub which does good food, sometimes had live music and quiz nights. The two cafe are very good too and sell lovely ice-creams. Supermarkets can be found in Bude and Camelford. It is possible to have supermarket deliveries too.

Self contained detached apartment with spectacular views over the north Cornish coast. The flat offers all the amenities for self catering. It is a few minutes walk from the coast path and down to the harbour at Boscastle. Pub and convenience shop close by with other shops and restaurants in the village. Well behaved dogs welcome. Separate space available for drying wet gear, boots and dogs! Lovely garden and spectacular sunsets over the sea.
The apartment is totally self contained with a double bedroom, open plan kitchen and sitting room with a double sofa bed* and a bathroom. As it is self-catering, the kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, microwave, full size cooker , toaster and electric kettle. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it which appears small but has good water pressure offering a decent shower. *The apartment is set up for two people to share the double bed, however, if you wish to use the sofa bed as well as the double bed, please let me know when you book. There is a small additional fee for the extra laundry of £10.00. Additional people can be accommodated for an extra fee. We are happy to welcome your dog and have a large garden space for you to use for yourselves and your dog - the sunsets are often spectacular and can be easily viewed from the garden seating. We have a space below the apartment for drying off wet clothing and for drying off dogs. You are welcome to use this to leave walking boots and other equipment such as surf boards. There is also freezer which can be used at your request. We are adjacent to the footpath leading over the hill to St Nectan's Glen and onwards to Rocky Valley. Our location is ideal also for quick access via a footpath and across one road to the coastal path. There are bus stops close by for buses to Tintagel, Bude and Wadebridge. Paradise Road is a quiet small road it is lit by street lights at both ends and we provide a wind up torch for the middle part in case you decide to go out in the evening. The walk to the harbour is very pretty - just along this road and down the old High Street, passing by many typical Cornish properties and winding down the the harbour.
We overlook the sea and the Lookout point which is a feature of the North Cornish coast. There is a good view of the Church and parts of the village. Our main enjoyment is the short walk to the cliff top at Forrabury and the walks around the "stitches" which overlook the harbour and from there you can walk to the village. Behind us are fields with livestock and views across towards Bude and on a clear day Lundy Island. We are close to a convenience shop which although small has a very good selection of fresh goods and speciality foods. Our nearest pub which offers food all year round is a short walk along Paradise Road with many other eating places in the village and harbour area.

This impressive period house has beautiful views of the Valency valley and the river leading through the centre of Boscastle. Set back from the coast path this property gives a lovely feeling of privacy while still being in the centre of this famous picturesque village, and the raised garden has majestic views of the harbour.

Outside the private garden offers a stunning, private, vantage point to look down the Valency Valley and watch the river, harbour and the sea, when the tide comes in. The Elizabethan harbour of Boscastle is famous for the floods of 2004 which devastated the village now it is once again picture perfect with a delightful selection of gift shops, public houses, cafes, restaurants and hotels. Boscastle has one of the most outstanding sections of the coast path with majestic promontories, crashing surf, secluded coves and long beaches with soft, golden sand. The stunning towns of Port Isaac, Rock and Padstow are a short drive to the west and are well worth a trip. There is one beautiful shower room at the property, but there is no bathroom. Boscastle is a tiny port set in a narrow ravine, the town came into prominence recently as a result of terrible floods in the summer of 2004. In the village there is a pottery, a museum of witchcraft and several gift shops. A footpath to the left of the quayside will take you to the 'Lookout' which is a wonderful vantage point from which to view the rugged coastline. Boscastle was once a favourite meeting place of the author Thomas Hardy, and is the location for one of his novels 'A Pair of Blue Eyes'. Boat trips can be taken from the harbour as far as Long Island, where during the breeding season you may see razorbills, puffins & guillemots. There is a demanding 7 mile coastal path walk between Boscastle and Crackington Haven. There are several attractions along this stretch of coast including Strangles beach at the bottom of a large landslip with a rock arch the Northern Door. Just south of here is High Cliff which is the highest point on the Cornish coast path. Don't forget to visit Pentargon inlet which has an imposing waterfall that cascades down to the sea below. Trethevy is a delightful hamlet, equidistant from Boscastle and Tintagel and has a history which may well go back to 250 AD when a granite post was inscribed with C DOMI N GALLO ET VOLUS – ‘For the Emperor Caesars our lords Gallus and Volusian’ this can now be found outside St Piran a former monastery and now private residence, Trethevy is also home to St Nectans Glen a beautiful valley where the River Trevillet has carved its way through the slate and formed a beautiful 60' waterfall. On Bodmin Moor, Dozmary pond is thought to contain Arthur's Excalibur, and Merlin is thought to be still found walking under Tintagel Island. Camelford is a great centre for touring, walking, fishing, swimming or surfing holidays. The town is steeped in history and has excellent shopping and sporting facilities. Port Isaac is the location of the televisions series Poldark and more recently Doc Martin, as well as being a gorgeous working fishing village. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. The famous Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths for 18 miles, providing the whole family with a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge, and out to Padstow where you can sample Rick Steins famous Fish and Chips. The market town of Launceston is the capital of Cornwall and well worth a visit to see the church of St Mary Magdelene, with granite carvings, unusual among Cornish churches.

Situated at the top of Boscastle, The Garden Room is tucked away in a quiet residential area so we do try to keep the noise down later in the evenings. Street lights are around, but if you are intending to spend the evening down the local pub, it would be a good idea to take a torch! MUSIC! Local pubs have wonderful music evenings. The Napoleon Inn ...on Tuesdays ~The Boscastle Buoys( shanty singers), alternate Monday’s ~a lively Jam session with the Nap Jammers and Fridays ~ local live music , all in the Napoleon inn a short stroll away. The cobweb is a walk down into the village and harbour, they have live music on Saturday nights. The Witches Museum along Boscastle harbour is well worth a visit, lots of curiosities to look at and huge amount of history.

My place, a perfect base for exploring North Cornwall just off the A39 is close to Bodmin Moor, the Camel Trail for cycling, the North Devon and Cornwall sections of the South West Coastal Path for hiking and Surfing Beaches like Polzeath and Bude. Easy access to famous locations from television like Port Isaac and Jamaica Inn. There are loads of amazing small farm shops and tea rooms as well as larger destinations like Padstow near by with Rick Steins fish and chips.
The accommodation comprises one double bedroom, a lounge/dinner with freeview television and wifi. A fully equipped newly fitted kitchen with dishwasher. A brand new shower room with underfloor heating. The garden is large and enclosed with patio table and chairs. There is a driveway for off road parking and access to our field for guests with dogs. Also free eggs from our pet chickens (as pictured), and a cream tea on arrival, with enough milk, sugar and teabags to get you started. You'll love my place because of the amazing views up to Rough Tor, the easy access to the whole of North Cornwall and the enclosed garden suitable for dogs. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets).
The immediate neighbourhood is a small hamlet of around 10 houses and farms, and although the A39 runs through it, the area is very rural and surrounded be fields. Davidstow with its famous creamery is one mile to the east and Camelford with its free parking, shops, pubs and petrol station three miles to the west. Rough Tor is five miles away, the turning is on the left on the way to Camelford, Hilltop Cafe/Farm shop is two miles away, the turning is on the right on the way to Camelford.

Boscastle is a tiny harbour set in and around a narrow ravine, the village came into prominence most recently as a result of terrible floods in the summer of 2004 and featured in the two season BBC TV series ‘A Seaside Parish'. In the village there is a pottery, a museum of witchcraft a post office and general store, bakery, outdoor clothing store, National Trust shop and several other gift shops. A footpath to the left of the quayside will take you to the 'Lookout' which is a wonderful vantage point from which to view the rugged coastline and if the tide is at the right level, the Boscastle blow hole!. There are numerous short and long walks from Boscastle to the surrounding countryside and coastal areas. Walking across Forrabury Stitches to the Harbour or along the coast to Tintagel as well as the demanding 7 mile coastal path walk between Boscastle and Crackington Haven. The "Devils Bellows" is a horizontal blow hole at the mouth of Boscastle harbour which, at the right state of tide can blow halfway across the inlet. Boscastle was an active commercial harbour until the North Cornwall railway line was completed towards the end of the 19th century and vessels of up to 200 tonnes regularly navigated into the treacherous harbour as this was the only option over 40 miles of coastline.Trethevy is a delightful hamlet, equidistant from Boscastle and Tintagel and has a history which may well go back to 250 AD when a granite post was inscribed with C DOMI N GALLO ET VOLUS – ‘For the Emperor Caesars our lords Gallus and Volusian' this can now be found outside St Piran a former monastery and now private residence, Trethevy is also home to St Nectans Glen a beautiful valley where the River Trevillet has carved its way through the slate and formed a beautiful 60' waterfall. Port Isaac is the location of the television series Poldark and more recently Doc Martin, as well as being a gorgeous working fishing village. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. The famous Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths for 18 miles, providing the whole family with a flat cycle route through Bodmin and Wadebridge, and out to Padstow where you can sample Rick Steins famous Fish and Chips. The market town of Launceston is the capital of Cornwall and well worth a visit to see the church of St Mary Magdelene, with granite carvings, unusual among Cornish churches.

The name Lesnewth is of Cornish origin and means 'New Court' that is 'a chieftan's estate'. Some of the oldest buildings of Lesnewth include the Church, the Rectory & the Mill. The village is situated approximately 2 miles east of Boscastle and 6 miles east of Tintagel.

Paradise Farm Cottage is a charming, single story cottage in our own sunny corner of the village, appropriately named. Situated adjacent to the farmhouse and open fields, and with friendly farm animals and pets, Paradise is a favourite for all ages.
The living area is a delightful 22 foot room with comfortable furnishings, an open Victorian style fireplace (logs provided), TV with Now TV box (freeview channels and access to catch up apps/YouTube etc) DVD player and incorporating a well equipped kitchen. The front door opens directly onto the child friendly lawn with garden furniture. The modern bathroom has a shower bath. A freezer and washing machine are provided in the utility. All electricity, heating, wireless internet connection and bed linen are included in the sensibly priced rates. Hand and tea towels are provided, I just ask that you bring your own bath and beach towels.
We are situated on the edge of the village, but near the centre of the old village street with it's picture postcard cottages, chapel, school and 16th century pub (great food). The beautiful harbour area, with restaurants, cafes, shops and pubs is less than a mile down the road. Also the cliff path and valley walks are easily accessible from the cottage.

Penhawker boasts a beautiful sheltered location in the Valency valley. Bright, single level house, allowing easy access and just minutes from Boscastle's harbour, shops, pubs, restaurants and walks. There is a large drive for ample parking. If not walking directly from the house on the coast path, it's only a short drive or bus trip to beautiful places such as Bossiney, St nectans glen, Tintagel, and Bude.
Penhawker was our family home and is now a holiday home enjoyed by us, friends and welcome guests. It is suitable for single occupancy, couples and families. Dogs are welcome too, and the garden is secure. It is all on one level and has been used by people with a wheelchair with no problems.
Boscastle is an idyllic Cornish harbour village with a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere providing grocery and gift shops, as well as a fine bakery and pottery. The village boasts many fine places to eat, drink and make merry. The Napolean Inn at the top of the village is well worth a visit on a Tuesday night to hear the delightful and entertaining singing of The Boscastle Buoys..(check them out on you tube!) The Cobweb Inn always has live music on a saturday night, you will be the envy of the locals at having such a short 2 minute walk home! Sited on the rugged North Cornwall coast the local views and beaches are some of the best in Britain, you may even be fortunate enough to see the seals on the beaches.

Small but beautifully formed the Boatshed is an ideal couple’s retreat. It’s in a quiet location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with picture-perfect sea and countryside views. With on-site parking the Boatshed is a perfect base for exploring Cornwall. Hillsborough comprises three properties, the Farmhouse, the Hayloft and the Boatshed. All properties are fully self-contained, each with their own private outside space.
Our little Boatshed is a beautiful, detached studio with amazing views which you can’t help but notice as soon as you walk through the door - the floor to ceiling window and door give the most stunning view of fields and sea. The Boatshed is a delightful, quiet retreat from the hubbub of life. You enter into a small, neat kitchenette area, equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, electric two ring burner, an induction hob and a very useful slow cooker – just fill it in the morning before you go out and come home to a lovely smell and beautifully cooked food. There is also a breakfast table with two stools. A comfy leather settee is perfect for reading or watching TV, as is the cosy king-size bed. At night if there’s not much worth watching, just look out through the glass doors – the lack of light pollution means that on a clear night you can see millions of stars. If you have Spotify or similar or you carry your music library on your mobile you can stream it directly to a Yamaha WX-010 wireless streaming speaker using Apple Airplay or MusicCast. There is also a shower room with toilet. Outside there is a kettle bbq - the tools can be found in the kitchen. Please leave the bbq as clean as possible as this is not cleaned by our housekeeping team. We clean so you don't have to! That's why we leave very little in the way of cleaning products in the Boatshed. Unfortunately we can't always be around (we're working on it) but we use a great housekeeping team who are your first point of contact in the unlikely event of any problems. All we ask that you leave the Boatshed tidy and leave a note of any accidental breakages. We'd love you to come and visit the Boatshed soon.
Hillsborough is very quiet. Apart from Boscastle Farm Shop the only neighbours are the sheep and cattle in the fields, sea birds and beautiful peregrine falcons who nest on the cliffs we overlook. So the only noises you should hear are moos, baas and the eerie screech of the falcons when they are hunting for food. The area is also a feeding ground for greater horseshoe bats which apparently can sometimes be seen at dusk. Just 200 metres away from the Boatshed is the SW Coast Path, ideal for walkers. The way to the path is via our closest neighbours, an award winning farm shop and cafe – breakfast there is guaranteed to delay your walk, but the cafe is a welcome sight at the end of a long trek. Just make sure you arrive back before they close at 4.30. About 20 minutes’ walk away (2 or 3 minutes by car), Boscastle is famous not just for its Elizabethan harbour but also the floods which devastated the village in 2004. It is now once again a charming village with plenty to occupy you – eating places galore, gift shops, crystal shops and hotels. If magic is your thing then the renowned Museum of Witchcraft and Magic is a must. If you like traditional music then call into the Wellington Hotel on a Wednesday evening for a traditional Cornish singalong. For something louder, go to the Cobweb Inn on a Saturday night, you won’t be disappointed … it will be loud. From the harbour you can explore the beautiful surrounding area with ancient woods, the old village of Boscastle with cottages dating back to the 15th Century, the site of the Norman Castle and the medieval strip farming system which is still in operation on the cliff top. And there is much, much more, not least the stunning coastal views. The Spar Shop in the village opens at 6.00 am – early enough for the keenest walkers, and supplies nearly everything you need. You should also try Bottreaux Filling Station for more unusual items, including a range of free-from. As mentioned, the Farm Shop is sometimes difficult to leave – locally produced fruit and veg, Ruby Red beef and wonderful bakery items are available to buy and the café has an amazing choice of cake and puds. Further afield, there are many places to visit within half an hour, including Bude and Launceston. Within an hour you can be in Rock or Padstow and an hour and a half will find you in St Ives, Mousehole or Marazion with beautiful St Michael’s Mount. (For information, Marazion is pronounced Marazine – it took us a long time to realise that they weren’t two different places.)

Quirky, cute and with bags of history, Lynhay dates back to the 1600’s and has the additional distinction of once being a much-loved village pub, the Boscastle Arms. Today this lovely cottage has three bedrooms - two double, one with bunk beds - an integrated kitchen and cosy living space with log burner and a lovely sunny courtyard garden. A ten minute walk downhill leads you to Boscastle village with its stunning harbour, whilst a one minute walk uphill takes you to a local dining pub.
The property retains a number of quirky and charming original features from 500 years ago. This includes the original beams throughout, slate floor downstairs, a ‘smugglers lookout’ window, a salting trough, and a very unusual hobbit door. In terms of more modern facilities, the living area has an integrated kitchen, with electric oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, and fridge/freezer. The shower room has a walk in shower. There is a HD TV with an integrated Netflix account set up for exclusive guest use, a portable Bose Bluetooth speaker should you wish to listen to music, and a digital radio. The property uses ultra fast fibre broadband so watching films and streaming music should not be any problem. There is a modern electric radiator heating system in each room - this should ensure that it is never too hot, or too cold. The radiators are set remotely, but can be also turned up or down in the cottage. To stay snug in the lounge, there is log burning stove and a supply of wood. Each room also has an electric fan heater, should the weather drop toward freezing. Outside the property, there is a courtyard garden with a view over hills to the back. Guests have exclusive use of the garden, and the Weber kettle charcoal BBQ. Inside the outhouse there is a washing machine which guests can use for free and a clothes airer. Surfboards may also be stored in here. One small thing to remember is that the property is 500 years old, so you will need to duck through a couple of doorways. The Napoleon Inn is our favourite pub in the village, and luckily it is only one minute walk away up the hill. It has a great range of traditional Cornish ale and cider, and a good selection of reasonably priced wines and spirits. Other pubs in the village toward the harbour include the Cobweb Inn, and the Wellington. The Wellington has particularly good food and is a favourite of guests.
Reasons to visit Boscastle: * The distinctive natural harbour. * Beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline, including the South West Coastal path. * Museum of Witchcraft * Associated with authors and artists, including Thomas Hardy, who was inspired by its remoteness and rugged beauty. * Abundant in wildlife, dramatic walks and historic features. * Great potteries, pubs, and art galleries. Things to do in Boscastle: The landscape, coastline and quaint old buildings are undoubtedly the biggest attraction of the local area. These are made all the more interesting with local potteries, art galleries and the Museum of Witchcraft. Also nearby is sacred site St Nectan’s Glen where the River Trevillet has created a magnificent 60 foot waterfall cascading into a beautiful valley. The area also has a number of gorgeous churches, most dating from Norman times and there are plenty of good walks into the beautiful countryside that start in the village. Surfing and beaches Boscastle has a small beach at low tide. Good for swimming. Bosinney Cove is a great surfing beach and five mins drive from the cottage. There are no lifeguards, and this is a beach to use outside of high tide. There is a 10 min walk down a track to get there. Crackington Haven is close - 10 mins drive - and has great surf, a decent beach at low tide, rock pools, caves and lifeguards. There are a couple of good cafes, a great pub, and parking is usually ok. Polzeath. A massive beach, with amazing surf, and lots of walks along the coastal path. Get there early. 20 mins drive away. As this is close to Rock (a posh spot) the cafes and pubs are a bit more expensive. Save money by taking a packed lunch with you, get there early and enjoy the beach. Low tide is best. Walking Following in the footsteps of famous Thomas Hardy by taking the path through the woods and up the valley to St Juliot’s Church. See the Old Rectory where Hardy stayed and met his sweetheart Emma whilst he was an architect working on the church tower For fantastic coastal views take the left hand path at the harbour that leads to a slate platform where out you can see the Boscastle ‘Blowhole’ an hour before or after low tide. The blow-hole beneath Pengally Point is often called Devil’s Bellows. It can be seen thumping and snorting an hour either side of low tide, blowing horizontal water across the harbour entrance if the conditions are right. You can follow the path up to the 300ft high Willa Park, where the National Coastwatch have a watch house. The Willa Park walk is doable with young children (we managed it with a four year old), and you may even see the ‘wild’ ponies who graze up by the watch tower. (Don’t worry, they are very friendly). The National Trust visitor centre by the harbour has an extensive gift shop, tea rooms and lots of local visitor information. About a mile out of Boscastle is a farm shop. This has a lovely cafe, and sells a range of great farm produce (meat, vegetables, breads, beer, cider, etc). It is also a fantastic point at which to start a walk as it adjoins the South West Coastal Path. The cafe displays a number of excellent circular walks of varying length.
