“Surely "the" museum to visit in Barcelona. For the artist and for the building. Imagine Montcada Street, in the Gothic quarter, five mansions united to form a museum, lovely to visit. About Pablo Ruiz Picasso the museum is essential to understand his formative years. The genius of the young artist is revealed to us through more than 3,500 works that make up this permanent collection.”

“Casa Batlló is a building designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí, the highest representative of Catalan modernism. It is a comprehensive remodeling of a previously existing building on the site, the work of Emilio Sala Cortés. It is located at number 43 of Passeig de Gracia in Barcelona, the wide avenue that runs through the Ensanche district (Eixample), in the so-called Manzana de la discordia, because it houses, in addition to this building, other works by modernist architects: the Amatller house, which borders Gaudí's, the work of Josep Puig i Cadafalch; the Lleó Morera House, the work of Lluís Domènech i Montaner; the Casa Mulleras, by Enric Sagnier; and the Casa Josefina Bonet, by Marceliano Coquillat. The construction was carried out between the years 1904 and 1906”

“Meier embraced the difficult task of creating a building that would ultimately display a variety of contemporary artworks that were unknown to him at the time of design. The choice to build the museum in the Plaça dels Ángels is consistent with Meier’s vision to situate the building amongst some of Barcelona’s oldest streets and buildings, in addition to revamping the public space of the Raval. After the completion of the $35 million construction, local media referred to the museum as “the pearl” amongst the old architecture and narrow streets just a few blocks from Gothic center of Barcelona. The building’s architectural style has strong references to Modernism. The large (120 by 35 meters) white building has much of its southern elevation glazed, providing the visitor with views across the plaza, and allowing for an abundance of natural light to illuminate the interior galleries. The museum has three main galleries, which can be subdivided, as well as five smaller galleries, one of which is in a tower. Collection The permanent collection of around 5,000 works(up from 1,100 works at the time of the museum's opening in 1995) dates from the mid-20th century onward. There are three periods of modern art represented: the first one covers the forties to the sixties; the second spans the sixties and seventies; the third period is contemporary. The collections focus on post-1945 Catalan and Spanish art, although some International artists are also represented”

“This lively square is the heart of Barcelona and it's beating strongly. Steeped in history, the Plaça de Catalunya is the nerve centre of the Catalan capital. Plaça Catalunya has a little bit of everything: Modern cafes, monuments, shops, hotels, bars and beautiful fountains. This square connects the old city with the modern part of Barcelona. At one side, you will find the Eixample district, and on the other side, you will find Raval and Barri Gòtic. Another connected landmark of the city to the square is Las Ramblas, which starts from Plaça Catalunya and heads downwards to Port Vell. Besides that, Plaça Catalunya has a few interesting monuments and sculptures of different artistic movements such as Noucentrisme, Neoclassicism and Avant-garde. Other than its monuments, this square offers a vast variety of stores such as El Corte Inglés, a famous Spanish department store, where you can find anything and everything, and two of the most famous shopping routes of the city, which are Portal de l’Angel and Passeig de Gracia. On these shopping streets, you will find from boutiques and international stores to expensive designer brands. ✨To get there from our apartmets: take metro line L2 (purple) from "Sagrada Família" to "Passeig de Gràcia" and walk about 4min to Plaça de Catalunya (all the trip about 15min).”

“Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (half-naked men working out might help too). There’s plenty to do, whether it’s having lunch at one of the many seafood and tapas restaurants, riding your bike along the palm tree-lined promenade, sunning on the beach or playing volleyball. If you want more privacy, wander down to Bogatell, a beach preferred by locals that has nicer changing facilities than La Barceloneta. You’ll also want to stroll around Port Olímpic, which was built for the 1992 Summer Olympics. Follow the aromas of garlic, wine, and fresh local fish to the various restaurants running along the marina. A grand bronze fish statue soaring high above serves as a beacon to those searching for the renowned Casino Barcelona or the extremely popular nightclubs which practically lie on the beach itself. Hotel Arts, one of Barcelona’s tallest and most luxurious hotels, is nearby, just steps from the sand. Even if you don’t stay there, be sure and have a drink (gin and tonics are a Barcelona tradition) at Frank’s, the hotel’s attractive and popular bar. ”

“Популярнейшее место среди туристов и местного населения. Придется встать пораньше, чтобы заполучить место в этом кафе, несмотря на то, что у них целых 2 этажа и балкон. Но атмосфера и оригинальные блюда вам обязательно запомнятся. Мы особенно любим Шакшуку и круасан с сыром филадельфия и малиновым джемом на десерт. Расположено это место всего в 8 минутах от нашего дома.”

“Packed to the rafters with dusty bottles of wine, this classic but minuscule bar makes up for in tapas what it lacks in space. The specialities are 'conservas' (shellfish preserved in tins), which aren't always to non-Spanish tastes, but the 'montaditos' (sculpted tapas served on bread) are spectacular. Try salmon sashimi with cream cheese, honey and soy, or cod, passata and black olive pâté. Get there early for any chance of a surface on which to put your drink.”
