“Where else have you seen a complete iron age village - check it out on-line, it blew away a teacher friend from Birmingham who wanted some info for her pupils. It also has a burial stone and an ancient church, and is near good beaches and to Moelfre with fish&chip shop and café.”

Beach
“Moelfre - LL72 8HL, 01248 410822 Small but sweet - and delightful in that traditional sea-side way - this place is located just across the road from the Kinmel Arms Pub - in the little P&D car park right next to the harbour wall. Popular, with a wide range of flavours - kids love this place, and adults do too! Sometimes they put out a few chairs & tables – but best eaten sitting on the harbour-wall looking out to sea, or down on the pretty pebble-beach below. Both cones & tubs available. Depending on the season, their homemade gelatos (made on the premises), have ever-changing flavours! ”

“Great day out - especially if the weather is bad since this castle dates only back to the 1880's. Interesting castle and home which will also keep you dry. Beautiful gardens and a nice cafe. National Trust.”

“Spinnies Nature Reserve is very close to Bangor, and is situated on the edge of the Menai Strait at mouth of the River Ogwen. This nature reserve, along with Traeth Lafan which is connected to it, and Morfa Madryn and Morfa Aber, all three of which are managed by Gwynedd County Council, is one of the top locations in Wales to see wildfowl and waders. Spinnies consists of a small woodland with a series of ponds and a lagoon, Aberogwen Lagoon. The lagoon and ponds were created when a sharp bend in the River Ogwen was deliberately cut off to form a lake, making Spinnies the ideal home for numerous species of birds and many other animals, plants and insects. ”

Nature Preserve
“Great walks - go to Aber point and collect some mussels, you can almost touch the mountains from there. Bird watching, but be careful to follow the tracks AROUND the bay as you might get caught by the tide if you cross it at the wrong time (not that anyone has been, but best to be careful).”

“The garden was laid out with Cascade, Lime Avenue, and other features, to the design of Sir Joseph Paxton of Crystal Palace fame. It was to be part of Britannia Park, a Victorian extravaganza with Grand Hotel, conservatories and station on the main railway line. But due to funding problems, the whole scheme was abandoned and the site reverted to pasture and woodland.”
