“Visit Ausable Chasm for an assortment of adventures you will not find at any other single location in the Adirondacks. Hike, float and/or climb and experience one of the oldest natural attractions in the United States (Est. 1870). Immerse yourself in a primeval Adirondack forest as you stroll past Rainbow Falls, Elephant's Head, Column Rock, Hyde's Cave and the eerie quiet of Mystic Gorge. Descend hundreds of feet to walk on natural stone walkways and gaze upon eons of geologic history etched in stone.”

“Wonderful time and views for all ages. The walkways get you close to the falls safely. You can spend as much time as you need taking family pictures or just birding. They have a restaurant and gift shop. Your kids can even mine for rocks inside. Plenty of parking and only 5 miles from Lake Placid heading towards Whiteface Mountain. At the base of Whiteface Mountain, the AuSable River flows through a breathtaking gorge and over four ancient waterfalls into a deep crevice carved by ice, water and wind. Naturally formed gorges that you can see from the groomed paths, steel bridges and walkways with glass floors. ”

“In summer, walk the self-guided and above-ground nature trail to witness this spectacular display of ancient Adirondack geology. Our rustic stone-step and gravel trail features the old Sawmill Site Waterfalls, Artists' Gorge, incredible potholes and of course several surface caves. Descend into lighted caves and grottos with raging water or tranquil dark pools. For the more adventurous spirit, sign up for a guided summer Adventure Tour; a 3-4 hour spelunking cave crawl including a cave float! In winter, witness a magnificent transformation of landscape as ice flows form everchanging sculptures beneath the Stone Bridge and along the river. Snowshoe through the woods and return to toast marshmallows by the bonfire. Disc golfers can even play our beginner's course in winter, if they're hardy enough!”

“Walk across the street for a great little public beach, park and pier. The swimming area is small but great for young families. Fish off the pier or have a picnic in the park with BYO-coal grills. There are also public basketball and tennis courts as well as bathrooms so there's no need to walk back and forth to the townhouse. ”
