Pazhasiraja Tomb

Twenty-four kilometers away from Kalpetta on the high ranges the king of Asura stands head high as Banasura Hill. The second highest peak in Wayanad is this. The largest earth dam in India is on the near by river Karamanthodu. The reservoir-submerged mountains form a series of islands. The dam site is an ideal starting place for trekking.

Banasura Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam, which impounds the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River, is part of the Indian Banasurasagar Project consisting of a dam and a canal project started in 1979.The goal of the project is to support the Kakkayam Hydro electric power project and satisfy the demand for irrigation and drinking water in a region known to have water shortages in seasonal dry periods.

Chembra peak

Chembra peak is the highest peak in Wayanad at 2100m. above mean sea level. Tourists can also stay one or two days at the top of the peak in temporary camps. District Tourism Promotion Council provides guides, sleeping bags, canvas huts trekking implements on hire charges to the tourists. The scenic beauty of Wayanad which is visible from the top of Chembra is very challenging and thrilling.

It is the Gate Way of Wayanad above the Thamarassery Ghat Pass of western ghat, at an elevation of 700m above mean sea level. Deep valley to the south with winding roads through thick forest attract many. It is 55 kms. east of Kozhikode and 5 kms. south of Vythiri.
