It was originally built in the early 1800s by Maurice 'Hunting Cap' O'Connell the Uncle of Daniel O'Connell 'The Liberator' 1775-1847 and then owned by him as the one of the gate lodges to Derrynane House and has recently been lovingly refurbished throughout.
