The immaculately-kept grounds in this complex are a trip back to Old Hawaii: Meandering paths through native gardens lead to a bamboo-floored and teak-furnished lobby, next to a Tiki-torch lit pool, hot tub, lounge chairs and state-of-the-art gas grills. Just store the luxurious sheets, pillows and stitched cotton quilt in the teak and wicker chests when you want to return the room to a living area to entertain guests — or relax and enjoy the free high-speed Internet access, flat-screen TV and unlimited channels and music stations.

Leave the extra-tall sliding glass door open and feel the warm, refreshing breezes — or close it and turn on the new remote-controlled air conditioner that instantly cools the nearly 400-square-foot spacious unit.

Grab the Tommy Bahama backpack chairs, beach bag and towels, boogie boards, umbrella, and cooler from the lanai and head out to one of the numerous nearby beaches for the day. And return to rinse off in your newly tiled walk-in shower with a river rock bottom.

Located in the middle of town, you can easily walk to a multitude of world-class coffee houses, restaurants, bars, boutiques, art galleries, ice cream shops, and the Kailua Pier, where you can board boats that will take you on dolphin and manta ray swims, whale watching tours, scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing excursions, and dinner and sunset cruises.

No need for a rental car, as it’s just a quick stroll to year-around music events, fairs, festivals and cultural sites, such as the Moku’aikaua Church and the Hulihe’e Palace.

And it’s only a short trolley ride or drive to world-renowned beaches for surfing, boogie boarding and snorkeling.

Or take a day-trip to Volcano National Park where you can witness erupting lava flows; Mauna Kea Peak, where there is snow year-around; or to the rain forests of the Hilo side of the island, where waterfalls and rainbows are plenty.

Regardless of what you choose to do during your time on the Island, you will come home to one of the best beach bungalows in the complex -- if not in Kona!

ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE:
There is free on-site parking, but it typically fills around 4 p.m. The front desk can guide you to free parking on the Kuakini side late at night. Nearby on-street parking on Alii Drive is frequently available for free.

If you chose not to rent a car, an airport shuttle to the condo is available for about $30 or a taxi ride for slightly higher.

The unit is on Alii Drive, a two-lane 15 m.p.h. road that can sometimes get busy with cars and pedestrians during the day. Great fun to watch, but if you want privacy, simply roll down your outside blinds or close the sliding-glass door.

This is a no-pet and no-smoking complex. You may, however, smoke in a designated area on the property or across the street.

Your unit will be spotless when you arrive and your linens and towels fresh and clean. There is not daily maid service provided, but if you would like to request a mid-stay cleaning or additional towels or sheets, arrangements can be made at an additional fee. There is also a coin-laundry on site.

Try to arrive before 11 p.m. when the lobby desk closes. If you are unable to do so, please notify me so we can make arrangements for the key.

If there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to contact me. You will receive directions from the airport, check-in instructions and house rules from me via email when you make your reservation.

The majority of the units in this complex are privately owned and operated. Owners take great pride in their condos so that visitors — whether they be friends, family or paying guests — can all experience the same quality stay.

Aloha! I am so happy you are considering staying at my brand new beachfront condo in beautiful Kona! A little info about me, just in case you're curious: I've lived in California since 1977 in various ocean and mountain communities and moved to Santa Barbara in 1998, where I have lived ever since. I've traveled this country extensively and Santa Barbara is hard to beat -- but when I first visited Kona in 2012, I immediately fell in love with the seaside village -- the clear, warm water… the tropical weather, plants and food, and all of the sites and ambiance the Island has to offer. I'm a veteran professional journalist of 20-plus years by trade and passion and have worked for large metropolitan and community newspapers, annually winning national awards for my coverage. I'm currently a freelance writer and teach journalism to college students. Since I am only an adjunct instructor, however, I thought hosting my stunning Kona condo would be a great way to share my love of the Island and to supplement my part-time income. I appreciate that you've taken the time to read through this listing and to look at the photos. I hope you can see all of the hard work and energy that has gone into remodeling, decorating and furnishing this place so that it is a true slice of paradise. If where you stay when you are traveling is as important to you, as it is to me -- then you've chosen the right place!
